i started with 100 mixed adults to small nymphs, i got them on April 30th there where 19 adult males and 23 adult females plus the other youngsters i now have around 350-400:main_thumbsup: they are in a 10 gal. tank with UTH with rheostat set to 91F on the tank floor and lots of egg crates.

also i did not notice until they where adults but i now have about 50 lobster roaches in with the dubias they all get along fine, has anyone else put different roaches together:main_robin:

lol they still kinda scare me because i'd be keeping them in my room. can they climb ANY surfaces at all or just not slick surfaces? like if one escapes am I going to find it going up my wall? lol

Ugh...turks, they still freak me out, lol. The babies are so tiny, I keep thinking they can escape via my arms while changing water and food; without me even feeling it. I have about 10 adults and 20 nymphs currently, had seen a couple egg cases but they didn't hatch.

If one needs the closest to an actual cricket size replacement the turkistans fit that bill for nonclimbing roaches.

When roaches are classified as climbers or non climbing it is in relation to glass smooth surfaces. they cant climb glass smooth plastic. They can climb matte finishes and glass that has a lot of mineral build up on it or dirt. This applies to all non climbers. They can all climb porous surfaces.

I can also say based on our experience as the nations only exclusive bulk dubia sales that they are our most popular feeder roach meaning the dubia not the turkistan. If the turkstans move too fast for you you can put them in the refrigerator for a few minutes

Here is a picture of dubia next to a ruler to see adult sizes.

I like Dubias. I only have about 12 females & 6 males, but I'm getting a batch of 500 nymphs this next week. They work great & don't die out like crickets. I mostly use them for my monitors, seeing that they will only eat about 6 large roaches in one sitting compared to 40 crickets. Only my two male leos eat them, and even then my oldest is iffy about them.
