Unexpected Outcomes

I've had a few puzzling hatchlings this season:

1. The single gecko and the eye picture: This one is a product of an eclipse female, and my 9 year old Tremper albino male. The male has been my breeder for the past 8 years and in that time has produced 1 snaked eyed gecko. He was born in 2004, before the eclipse eye trait was known, as far as I can tell. The hatchling doesn't have the white nose, and is still small enough that it may actually just have really dark eyes, but they look like eclipse eyes to me. Is it possible that my Tremper albino had the eclipse gene before it was known?

2. I paired my hypo Mack snow male het eclipse with a gecko I bought from Kristi that was produced by Oregon Geckos and labeled "Montanus Raptor". It's actually really an Aptor since it doesn't have eclipse eyes but it is probably het for eclipse (because Eric thought it was an eclipse at first). The first 2 hatched and, as you see, I ended up with a jungle eclipse (you should be able to see the white nose in the picture) and . . . a supersnow! Is the Aptor a Mack snow? I emailed Eric but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. This is especially ironic because my snow x snow pairing has yielded 13 babies so far but no Mack snows.
What do you all think?

I'd still be really interested in some comments about producing what appears to be an eclipse baby from a male that was born before the eclipse gene was known.

I have heard from other breeders that breed and old Tremper male to an Eclipse or het Eclipse female and produced Eclipses.

Interesting.

Just thinking here... is it possible that the mutation that created the eclipse trait happened several generations before the first visual eclipse, which was only brought about by in- and line-breeding animals that happened to carry the trait, and that many unknown het Eclipse animals made it into the breeding population before that first visual was produced? That might explain how animals that pre-date the formal "creation" of Eclipse carry the gene.

It's an interesting thought. One notable thing --my eclipse hatchling from the het eclipse x het eclipse pairing has the white nose and feet. The one from the eclipse x Tremper doesn't.

Do you happen to know which breeders in particular so I can ask them where they got their Trempers from? You can PM if for some reason you don't want to reply on the thread.
