unknown problem

i adopted a leopard gecko about 2 months ago, she was being starved and not taken care of.
i have been feeding her to get her back to a normal weight and size because her tail was smaller than my pinky. recently i have noticed that her tail is a bit bigger but her body its self is very fat. she looks the same size as my pregnant gecko. she is about ten years old, never ever been with another gecko so i know she is not pregnant. she is alone in her own seperate tank but also when i look at her belly it is all white like the eggs but more like the calcium build up.
i am unsure of what the problem could be.any ideas?

i do not think it is eggs. because she did have the white like my other pregnant one but they disappeared about a week ago now they are really small. no eggs were laid and she is still the same size. could it be ANYTHING else?

a 55g leopard gecko should have 3 or 4 superworms or crickets every day, not once a week.
get rid of the light(s) and sand and put paper towel down or tile for the substrate.
26.8C is way too cold for a basking temp. get the temp up to 32C for the substrate on the warm side.

the swollen belly could be a belly full of sand...

I'm with Rob, way too cold for a hot spot. It might look fine for the short term, but you're probably going to see problems over the long haul with at that temp.

Females can reabsorb infertile eggs. If the white is gone, that might be what has happened. It's not uncommon.

I am pretty certain it is the sand.
i cleaned out the tank and now she has paper towel
is she going to pass the sand or is there hope if the vet can get it out
or is she going to die?

Have you been able to get the heat up? She'll retain whatever is in the GI tract, food or otherwise, if she's too cold to maintain a good metabolism. Being too cool would be why she isn't eating as much food as she should, and if she has resorted to eating sand in an attempt to help her metabolism, it could be temp related.

Another suggestion, if you do think it is sand, is a drop or two of high-grade mineral oil as a mild "laxative."

But honestly, if you're as nervous as you sound, get some heat and take her straight to a vet. We can't diagnose or treat over the internet, even a licensed veterinarian can't do that.

and here's a reason why there is an age limit for this forum.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to read posts like the previous two, especially the last one, so my recommendation is that you reserve that kind of stuff for the monkey bars.

EDIT- Previous two posts removed by poster. I am not talking about Lillith's post...

actually it is not water weight an empty belly
she eats fine if anything i slowed down because i dont want it filling her stomach if she is not digesting.
it was impaction because of the sand that is why i took ALL the sand out and she is getting better when i give her a warm bath.

in the most kinda way possible why ask the question if you don't want to believe the answer?? Honestly Id actually like to know, not trying to be smart at all, I just don't understand asking a question and then not wanting to listen to the advice of some skilled breeders and keepers?!? :main_huh:

It probably is the sand...and the fact that your temps are WAY too cold for digestion...and the fact that the crickets you are feeding are being gutloaded on calcium powder....etc etc.

I highly recommend you read through the care sheet post.
