Ok ... How do handle going going out of town and leaving your Geckos?

Do you have some one that takes care of your geckos when out of town?

Do you board them?

Do you just not go?

I don't leave as often as I would if I didn't have the geckos. I try not to leave as much when I have eggs to be collected and babies hatching, but I do have to leave for some dog shows. There is either someone home with them, or somone 'gecko sits'. Usually my Mom comes over to take care of them. Bless her for loving the little guys almost as much as I do! :yes:

My best friend "gecko" sits. They have snakes, turtles,beardies and have had geckos in the past so she knows what she is doing. Now I have 1 creasty that just goes with us.

Weekend away: I leave plenty of food and top off water dishes before I go.

4-5 days: with adults only I'd have someone come in and top off water dishes. With hatchlings, I'd have the person feed them. With eggs in the incubator I have 2 people with the interest and expertise to check the incubator and move the hatchlings.

Longer than 4-5 days: I pay someone to come in and do what's necessary about every 3-4 days.

I went to Australia 3 years ago for 2 1/2 weeks and this worked well. I'm going to Israel in Dec. for 10 days and have already lined up my "sitter".

If I go away for a few days and have females that may lay , I move the lay boxes to the warm side and make sure the substrate is moist enough, so the eggs are kept humid and warm till I get back. I have never gone away for more than 4 days during breeding season and don't anticipate doing that any time soon.

I'm plan to leave them with a friend when I go to Seatle.
