biddy baby problems

Hi Nicole.
Been going through the biddy baby problem for 6 months now.
born 3 grams, month 3 grams, 4 months 3 grams, ..5 months finally 4 grams................hey, hey
WOW....6 months, she Jumps to 6 grams.
Not spectacular for the average critter...........
But we'll "partysize" it about her..............cause she's trying!

Eye issues, eating issue, MBD, tail kink,
surprised she made it past a couple weeks.
I've had to really be creative on assisting her.

Everything from food movement by feeding the
tinyest worms within her tank 50 at a time,{ I raise them}
holding one end of worms, hand feeding Armour potted meat,
+ liquid cal. and powder cal/vit, and help with shed skin removal.......
but she has taken on more of all by herself.
I see her hunting bigger worms good now and the " tiny poops "
are indicating that also..........+ the 2 gram jump in weight.
Many will probably think I should have put her down....but
I'm not one of them.
She's a gecko - fu - fighter!
Hope it helps you and Lucy.
Questions? ok to PM me.
Take care. HJ

other comments : Sm. can Armour potted meat(40 cents)
small amounts mixed with liquid cal works.
Will lick it from your finger.
Place strips of carrot in the tank for the excess small
meal worms to stay fit so you won't need to
keep removing. But keep adding fresh ones too.
Mild warm soak to help with shed + wet Q-Tip

I have had several slow growers each season. Sometimes they have mild deformities and sometimes are just failure to thrive. I feed my hatchlings mealworms so when this happens I will hand-feed these babies a few mealworms a night. When they get up to about 12 grams I'll start them on small superworms. I have found many times that in most cases, they eventually do take off (in 2010 I had 2 like that and by 6 months they were close to a "normal" weight.) Last season's slow grower was born in June 2011. In Sept, when I was getting ready for my first show, she was still only about 5 grams so I didn't bring her. At the beginning of Dec. she weighed 33 grams and currently she's 7 months old, weighing 43 grams.
