I work in a vet so here is our break down:
Visit-$54
deworming-$23
Fecal testing-$22
Bloodwork(optional)-$100
total-$100(regular visit)

Now we are one of the most expensive vets in our area, so there ya go.

I received a gecko through the mail that had some pretty bad eye problems. After $72, 44 for the visit and 28 for two different medications, he is almost back to perfect health.

$32-Visit
$12-Fecal test
About $70-Blood work
Medication varies but most have only cost around $10.

Very straight forward and friendly vet-PRICELESS! :D

Sorry, I had to throw that in there. It is true though.

im in houston and worked at a vet for 3 years. exotic exams, which included reptiles, were $35. then if you needed other things, of course that was extra, but prices were reasonable.

I just called the closest herp vet to me last week and they told me $125 just for the visit, and another $35 for a fecal. Yikes.

Those types of vets shouldn't be allowed to practice. My visit fee is $32 and a fecal is $12. My vet is very busy and VERY good he could probably charge more but his interest is in the animals not so much the money. He deals with every thing from cats and dogs to ferrets and monkeys.

what about if you needed help for egg binding

I'm not sure what the cost would be but it wouldn't be outrageous. One of my chams needed surgery for what we thought was an abscess (actually a bone infection) and it only cost about $150, majority of that was for the anesthesia. Oh he also needed blood work prior to the surgery that was $75 so the total would be $225. I say $250 is well reasonable for surgery but that's just IMO.

I'm not sure what that would cost. As long as no surgery needed to be done I would think the bill would probably run around $60-80. That would include visit fee, medication (if needed), and what ever the procedure would be.

My sister has a male gecko that had basically a sperm build up. The vet showed me how to do it and said I could do it at home myself, just to be careful because he has had a couple of geckos drop their tail during the process. He only charged me the visit fee.

I honestly do not know what all of the procedures would cost since I have never dealt with most of them, but like I mentioned my vet is more interested in helping the animal then he is in money. Sometimes when I go for regular check ups I take 2-3 geckos at a time and he usually only charges me one visit fee. Now I have been going to Dr. Gold for about 3-4 years now and he sees that I do my best to care for the animals so that's probably why he cuts me some slack.

I happened to notice it the one day I was at my sisters, I thought it was feces smeared on the vent area. And that to me has always been a sign to get them checked out. As you mentioned it was simple to take care of.

Last year I had a male prolapse on me. I think in total it cost me about $350. That was 1 emergency visit w/ surgery charges (one stitch), then two more with the reptile vet both with surgery charges, one for adding another stitch and the second for amputation of one hemi, and fallow ups.
