All I need is the glass pieces from my local store and I'm set..

Two 29 Gallon Aquariums - 35$ Each.

Two Lids - 12$ Each.

Two UTH Heaters Heaters - Medium Sized - 20.00$ Each

Two Large Rolls of Reptile Carpet - 7.00$ Each.

Two Humidity/Hygrometers - 20.00$ Each

4 sets of 4 78mm thick chair non skid chair pads - 3.00$ per pack

4 sets of 2 clips to hold on the lids - 3.00$ per set

Building complete housing with pieces from two different Petsmarts, one random pet store, and home depot for less than purchase and shipping of the visionariums. Priceless.

I called the, "Glass Doctor", a local glass company in the area and they are cutting the glass pieces from me tomorrow at 4 dollars each. Two for the 29 gallon tanks and one for my ten gal.

We just got it finished and I'll need to do some wire ties and clean up around the area to make it look more clean and professional. But were very pleased with the results and the Leo's have a ton of room.:main_thumbsup:

Looks great! I've never thought of doing it like that before, sure would've helped me when I used tanks :).

That is a very creative way to recycle aquariums inexpensively! I've seen something similar with bearded dragon cages. I used JP's Acrylic Toppers for recycling of my 10g aquariums. I am switching all of my geckos to the new rack systems now though, need the space that is saved by using that method.

Your leos don't try to climb up the screen? It's a neat idea, but I'd be worried about them rubbing against it during shed or getting some claws stuck. But then all my leos are climbers.

Very nice . . . the set-up looks great! :main_thumbsup: I am glad you got things straightened out. I don't know why Visionariums are so expensive now. I am fortunate that I don't have many geckos to house, otherwise I would go broke! :)

the mesh of the of the lids is larger holes so they won't get snagged in it..

Maybe you can call the glass shop and have them make the pieces tall enough that the geckos won't be able to climb up to the screen. I remember someone on another board posting that her leo broke its arm on screen.
Good luck! :)

not a bad idea. I'll probably just for safety sake go ahead and cut them to half the height of the cage so they can't climb.

Good Call. Thank you.

For anyone that doesn't want to build themselves, I still recommend Glass Cages (glasscages.com) which has amazing prices on their stackable, front-opening cages and come to shows all over the country so you don't have to pay shipping (in addition to their 10"x20"x8" and their 12 1/2"x20"x8" they also make a 30"x12"x8" for $35 which is not advertised on their site).
