I have some geckos that wont touch their food if it has vitamin dusted on it and ive tried putting it on my finger and letting them lick it off and that dont work. So I was wondering if it is ok to take some vitamins and put it in the calcium dish so when they go to lick the calcium they get some of the vitamins too? Ive heard of people doing this but is it ok? Also how often do most of you dust your feeders?

I dust feeders at each feeding with Repashy calcium plus. If there is a way to get them to take the vitamins and they will do it by putting them in the calcium dish, go ahead. You could also try to make a paste with the vitamins and some water and put a bit on their noses. They will probably lickit off.

good luck,

Do what I do.........hold out on food for several days (assuming that your leo has a good fat reserve on its tail).......he/she will take on any live food wiggling in front of them.

That is how I switched my leos over to mealworms. I only had half my leos eat mealworms, I simply held out food for several days then feed them the 'dusted' mealworms. Didn't have takers, no surprise, so I took the mealies out of the cage of those leos that did not want it and tossed it in for the leos that would eat mealies.

Eventually they all caught on and now all my leos eat mealies as well as crickets. Start them off right....dust the mealies or cricket, if they don't take it, then remove the food. Eventually the leo will eat......just make sure its dusted with the vitamin of your choice.

Be patient and you will win out.
