I don't think they mean that when mixed with an enigma that it deletes the syndrome or makes it less severe. I think what they mean is that when mixed with another morph it has the same advantages as the enigmas do without the disadvantages...so far....time will tell though.

Yes, that is exactly right.

But it would be nice to find out they are related traits that improve outcomes.

I have an enigma with very little syndrome, the aim is good, no wobbling, no spinning. It just walks like an enigma thats all. I think the severity of the syndrome depends on the parents, mine came from an enigma x enigma pairing but both parents also have little to no syndrome. So, my conclusion is that if the parents are ok, there is a big chance that the offsprings will be too.

ALL enigmas have the syndrome. Before I get crucified...my best friend and god father to my children has downs. I compare enigma to downs in that there are different levels of functionality albeit they all carry the chromosome defect. Enigmas all carry the genes its just the degree at which its expressed varies. Would it be nice if it could be bred out...yes. But really is it worth it?

I think that the W&Y are direct derivatives of enigmas. This is my opinion and I have been chastised by W&Y fanatics...but have yet received counter information to validate anything besides hear say and speculation. Everyone always "knows" someone who works with them and they know it all but they for some reason dont tell people about it. The only person who knows what they are genetically is the creator and from there it is just a game of telephone.

I hope im wrong and its some new morph with no strings attached...Im just not holding my breath.

For my knowledge on w/y's they are basically enigmas without the issues. Im sure you could cross an enigma and a w/y and get no issues BUT the threat of it is still there. If this is true that w/y's are just an enigma without the problems then there is the possibility of them. It is very hard to answer any of these questions without dealing with the morph for years and not knowing the exact lineage. Also imo w/y's are going to decrease in price pretty soon with more and more breeders having them. W/Y's also do not have the same affect on certain morphs like the enigma. For example in Tangs and sunglows the orange tends to be a little more faded but brings out the lighter bands and emphasizes them where the enigma does not.

So, do B&W's act exactly like all other geckos or do they have any "different" mental traits? My "good" enigma (ie doesn't show the e.s. syndrom much) doesn't act like my other geckos in personality. She doesn't frighten as easily, it's like the "run away" instiinct has been turned off. My male is a little more "normal" in that regards, but even he doesn't run as much as all of my "normal" brained geckos do. Occasionally my normal-brained geckos will show some curiosity but it doesn't take much to turn on their fright/flight mode.

So, do B&W's have the same normal reaction to fear stimulus as other geckos or do they show less? I've heard other discriptions of enigma personality that show the same effect, though I dont' know if it's a "norm," or not.

I thought a w & y had the looks of an enigma with out enigma pproblems, so why would you mix the two?

They don't look the same.

Possibilities for mixing the two? See if one trait affects expression of the other, indicating some degree of interaction or not. Ruling out if they are related traits or not. Much like eclipse and marble or shatter eyes. Someone has to test breed.

How to know it is a W/Y Enigma? Easy, it walks in circles! That is my guess at least...
