Hey I am new to Gecko Forums but not to reptiles i have owned many over several years including snakes, leopard geckos and a few turtles and a couple tree frogs. I have been researching breeding leopard geckos for soooo long and i feel i am ready but want to wait a little longer when i get extra money so i can provide the best for my animals. I also know that they definitely can not be a main source of income. Anyways about me I love all animals even mammals and have 4 dogs 7 horses and A bunch of cattle (all shared in my family). I love Computers and technology and always have. Well thats pretty much all wish me luck and any starter tips would be much appreciated.:D

Welcome to GF! The best starter tip is use the search function and browse around, there is a ton of good information here.

Welcome to the forum! You asked for a few starter tips so here's a few things to keep in mind:

1) Start small. It's best to take is slow at first with one or two females and gain experience. You have experience keeping leos but breedings a whole different ball game and you should give yourself time to gain experience and try it out on a small scale to be sure it's for you.
2) Line bred morphs are great projects. Things that always have room for improvement(SHTCTB, or Hybino, for examples) are always more rewarding in the long run.
3) Make sure you have everything you need before you pair. Most important being an incubator. You have a month or so leeway in setting up hatchling cages but be sure you have a plan of where you're keeping them and what you're going to do with them.
4) Have fun! Leo breeding(or any animal breeding for that matter) is done for the joy of it. If you let yourself get overwhelmed/burnout it's not fun anymore and theres no real point to it.
5) Pick a project and stick with it. Get the best examples of those animals you can find and it will pay off in the long run. The most successful breeders work hard at a line they have faith in and don't let themselves get discouraged easily.

Good luck with your projects and remember theres no such thing as a stupid question, you'll never know if you don't ask. :)

I am a first season breeder, too. I am breeding 2 females. I have a SnowGlow/Sunglow/Cremesicle project at my goal and also a Hybino. (I have a Hypo and a Mack Snow Tremper het RAPTOR). (I also have a Normal het Albino). If you do it good luck and be prepared!
