Wash Your Hands!!!

I can't wait to move out of the dorms and somewhere civilized!

I was in the bathroom the other day, and this only the most recent occurence, when some girl went into the toilet stall, did her thing, flushed, and then walked right out the door! I wanted to yell, "Hey, I saw that, get back here! Are you two or something that you need to be told to wash your hands?!":main_huh:

I mean yeah, fine, don't wash your hands when nobody's around and we'll all be none the wiser, but to not even rinse your hands with water, when someone else is standing right in front of you? C'mon, that's just gross!!!!! Sometimes the cleaners don't get to the soap and it runs out for a day, but there was plenty in the dispenser!

I mean really! Are college students this gross? I feel old telling the kids across the hall to quiet down, do I have to be nanny and give handwashing lessons as well? Are these punks trying to "go-green" and "reduce water consumption" by not washing? This didn't happen in my old dorm...are the people here just more imature?

GAH! I need to start carrying disinfectant wipes!

And don't get me started on the jerk who thinks he owns the public kitchen and leaves his dirty plates out for a week, and his clean stuff covers all the counter space...RAAARG!:main_angry:

Any thoughts or humerous anecdotes of a similar sort?

That is gross! I work at an elementary school so I've gotten to deal with all kinds of gross things. Swine flu was actually the best thing to ever happen for elementary age hygiene. The schools installed hand sanitizer dispensers in all of the hallways and bathrooms and were more diligent about reminding them to wash their hands after they go to the bathroom. I've noticed a dramatic decrease in the spread of colds and viruses. Hooray! If five years olds can do it twenty year olds should too!!

I got a better one for ya. I work at a indoor junk yard. The guys that dismantle the cars are filthy. I actually saw a guy come in the bathroom with his dirty gloves on and pee in the urinal with his gloves on. When he was done he walked right out grabbing the door handle with his gloves and left a huge grease mark on the handle.

Well I'm sure your hands are much dirtier than anything down there.... After all urine is sterile.

Reminds me of that joke, I'm really bad at telling jokes btw, but the navy guy tells the marine "in the navy they teach us to wash our hands after" and the marine replies "in the marines they teach us not to pee on ourselves."

Well, at least HIS hands were clean. :p People just don't think.

Urine may be sterile, but the surrounding tissue most likely isn't, especially considering the lack of airflow and sweat. Ugh. Not to mention other nearby anatomical structures that produce less than sterile waste.

I'm sure your hands are MUCH dirtier. It would be interesting to do a bacterial culture to find out though.

Yeah I know, but it can't be that bad if Bear Grylls is willing to drink it. :main_yes:

And since I will likely never meet any of you in person, and you don't know any of my family, I can confide in you that I have done that unthinkable thing, just like Bear. It's a long story, and one I don't talk about much... :p

but it ain't a fun thing to do.

Neither, actually. Woke up in the middle of the blazing hot night in Portugal, looked around for some water, didn't find any. I remembered a buddy of mine had a water bottle by his bed, so I snagged it quietly. Unfortunately, I remembered all too late that he had (for reasons I don't remember) used it as a toilet earlier that day.

Of course, I never told him...
