I wouldn't pay the extra money for something like that. A standard water bowl is just fine.

i use a kidney bowl and put a wet sponge in it. it helps maintain some humidity as well as you don't have drown crix in it.

Same thing happens to me but you should be changeing it daily or every other day anyways.

Agreed, imagine drinking water that has been sitting out for more then 24 hours on your shelf at room temp. Then imagine drinking water that has been sitting on the shelf for 24 hours in 80+ degree ambient air temp.

i had one when i first got into geckos and to be honest that didnt work for squat. it didnt filter thru and often the waterbowl was dry and the filter would get clogged and to be honest sometimes it got algea in it if it didnt get cleaned everyweek. i recomend using little dixie cups that you get samples in from liek a deli. they work well or some other form of water dish.

I have used them in the past, but did NOT like the slimy feel they got within a few days. This was what made them pointless IMO. If I have to take it out and clean it every few days, why can't I just refill it at the same time? The combination of moisture, and obviously warm temps, even if kept as far on the cool side as possible, always add up to less than fresh drinking water.

Okay, so the bottle is out. I think i need a different water dish though. It's too shallow, but it can't tip.

Yesterday I filled it, I got home today and it was dry. Poor little guy. Sure, I did spill a little putting it in there, but it's not easy not to.

Are you placing it over the warm side of the tank or the cool side?

Cool side. Imagine how fast it would go on the warm.

I've considered the not-fresh-water issue, but I change the water at least twice a week and clean the bowl every time I change it. I had a regular bowl in there but the water dried up too fast. And yes I do have the bowl on the cool side of the tank. I don't even think she really drinks the water from it anyway. I usually see her licking the sides of her moist hide. lol
