I'm starting a Dubia colony and need to order water crystals. I'm really not sure what they are exactly and how to use them. And where can I order them?

Water gel crystals are a polymer that absorbs and holds water. The insects then suck the water from the polymer to get their moisture.

I purchased a 1lbs bag of raw crystals for $10 with free shipping with in the states.

The crystals come in dry form. You add a small amount of crystals to the water (approx. 1 tablespoon to 2 cups of water) and the crystals absorb all the water and expand. This way the bugs can "drink" without drowning. If you've seen the blue or orange jello-like cubes that Flukers sells, this is the same thing but it's much cheaper to get the crystals and make your own. I use the crystals to feed my regular order (every 2-3 weeks) of 1000 large crickets and multiple orders of small crickets and can go for about a year on 1lb. of crystals.
