We hatched our first fatty!

We're really excited...it's been a long wait. We tried breeding last year, but we didn't have any luck. This year we finally got a few eggs!

It really sucks that I had to rush putting him away. I was already running a tad late. I didn't get a chance to enjoy him for a few. He'll be there when I get home though...HALF DAY WOO! Anyways, here he is, a little stripe het amel. Also sorry for the crappy photo, it was taken on my phone. I'll get some better ones this afternoon.

Awesome and congrats! How many more eggs do you have cooking?

I love stripes but I don't have one. I have a male amel het stripe and a "female" normal het amel. One day the female looks female and the next she looks like a male. It's weird.

We have 3 more eggs at the moment. Another male egg, and 2 in the female incubator. They should all be hatching any hour/day now. I would love to find 3 more hets or amels when I get home

We had the same issue with one of our females. She was always bulgy, but there were some days when I really scratched my head. Finally I brought her to a show to consult a few friends, where they were positive she was a she. If she's bigger, I think the best way to check would be to pull her tail up gently almost perpendicular to her body so you stretch the skin tighter in that area. If the bulges are pronounced, it's most likely a boy...if it stretches flat, it should be a girl. However, we all have been tricked before.

Last Year I had my first, and we named her Baby, It was one of the best feelings In the world, seeing our little baby pokin her head out of the egg, Knowing that I made it possible. baby fattys are the cutest, mine would fall asleep right in my hand when they were juvees. good luck on the rest of your eggs! hope to see more pictures
