We just had a BIG earthquake...

My husband's mom lives within a few miles of the epicenter, and it took her 2 hours to clean up the mess around her house. Her medicine cabinet, china cabinet, and kitchen cabinets opened up and the contents were everywhere. Pictures came off the walls, and nick-nacks all over the floor. She couldn't believe it, but nothing got broken! (Must have been the new carpet and thick padding she just had installed...)

The two earthquakes I've been in while visiting relatives in California were tiny and early in the morning, so I just slept right through them. Kinda bummed about that now that I think about it, I really want to feel one just to see what's it like.

We had one here in West Virginia apparently on August 30th, that was a 2.6. About 150 km away. I was just searching the USGS site. This is kinda kewl. http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/epic/epic_circ.html
That same area had a 4.7 in 1976. I knew there was a reason I didn't wanna go there!
