We need more stickies

After talking to 2 other forum members we agreed we need some stickies on this site in a bad way. Hopefully the mods can get together and make us some stickies.

We need a few stickies but with the wealth of knoweldge on this forum this should be simple. Do you guys think we can make this happen? I know I have tried the search function on this site and I end up looking thru pages of results and sometimes come up empty handed or I get threads that really have nothing to do with what I searched for.

This is what I think we need stickies on,
feeding- for babies thru adults, the amount and how often the Leo should eat
feeding- something like tips and tricks on how to get your leo eating
housing- how to properly set up a tank for a leo
care- shedding info like How often they shed and how to fix a bad shed

you guys get my point, I know it's very frustrating when you make a thread and you need help but no one responds. There are so many experienced people here that it's enough to make someone really mad. Plus the stickies would cut down the amount of threads that get posted so many times. This would help new people so much, maybe you guys can do something like this..

It's just so frustrating to be a new member here. There are so many experienced people here but you post a thread get a bunch of views and no one offers any info. There really should be a bunch of stickies on this site. It only takes one look to see all the breeders here but it's hard to get solid info. Especially when you like this site but when you go to another site that's way smaller and doesn't have a third of the experience as people here but they have all kinds of stickies.

I really think good detailed stickies would make this forum a much better and enjoyable experience for née owners or owners who may be having trouble with something simple like shedding questions. Hopefully the mods see this and make some stickies for us all to refer to when we are having some trouble..

I do think stickies are a good idea. While you're waiting, here are 2 ways to get a lot of this information without combing through the site:

-- go to the articles/caresheets tab at the very top. Read some of the caresheets. That will probably address most of the basic questions

--Take a look at Gecko Time, the online magazine (www.geckotime.com). There have been a number of articles written that answer the questions you've mentioned including: substrate, geckos not eating (2 articles as of this past Tues.), breeding geckos, selling geckos, finding lost geckos, DIY articles about aspects of housing.

Much Agreement With Aliza...
There is a wealth of info to find here already,
even though not always a Quick Fix using the
search routines.
Many look for a Quick fix instead of
trying to FIND info first.
Thread started answers are usually more
worthy than multiple post different
opinions to choose from.
And many times it's not what
the inquirer always wants to hear.
So sometime good information is a waste
of time for advice givers.
That's a reason many experienced persons
hold back posting.
Take care. HJ

All of the topics you asked to have addressed are covered very well in the care sheet area. If people won't read what is already there, what good will it do to repost the same info in a sticky?

I think that people may simply overlook the area where the articles are at, I was simply implying that maybe a mod could just copy and paste them into their respective categories on the forum.

I know I have overlooked the articles before when I first started posting here.

A simple way to find those specific threads is to use the search bar located right under the site sponsor banners. There are a lot of cross references to other sites with additional information. Sometimes it's confusing and helps to read from different sources.

I know where the search bar is, I don't know if you ever used it but from my experience using it I'd be better off searching google for the info.

Have u tried asking your questions in chat? There are usually several experienced breeders and hobbiest in there ( alot more in the evenings) and most everyone seems willing to answer questions especially for newbies.

Info Search

I know where the search bar is, I don't know if you ever used it but from my experience using it I'd be better off searching google for the info.

I have many times and you are correct.
Time consuming head ache.
But it can work better with a couple suggestions.
First do an advance search.
Only on Threads.
Limit Key Words. ( as: TRAIN TRAINING )
Select the most logical section to find it.
as General Discussion. (not all)
And as I said before...these are helpful, not a fix.
I know not as many informative treads have been
started as posts to someone's thread questions.
A search on posts will be mind boggling with
unusable results.
Take care. Hj

Agree with Tony... All this covered ad nauseum in the care sheets... What every new owner wants is for someone to tell them they're doing things right when there gecko doesn't eat right out of the box... That's what the forums do well.. Positive reinforcement...

It's a purpose this forum serves well...

As a not too long ago newbie, I found the care sheets to be a wealth of info! I also used the search bar and found tons of tips and useful information. I asked questions and always got answers. I also googled and checked out other sites. I think the needed information was readily available and this forum has always been an invaluable resource for me.

Sorry I see the care sheets as a dime a dozen and they are all different.

The forum isn't to good for info tferguson. Even with all the experienced people here I can post a thread ask a question and have it not get answered. I can then go to google type it in and find a load of answers.

That's why I haven't been on the forum lately because realistically it's a waste of my time...

I'm sorry if you feel that people haven't responded to you as fully as you hoped. I went back and looked at the last 25 threads you started and checked the responses. Of all of them, there was one post that seemed as if you hadn't gotten an adequate response and I replied to that one as fully as I could. I'm glad you're getting the info you need online elsewhere at least. Since responses depend on each person's time and energy, it's kind of like pot luck. There have been a number of times that I've posted something I thought would be a hot topic because I was interested in it and it went over like a lead balloon.

I agree that care sheets can be contradictory. The trick is to look for their common ground, try to figure out why they differ in the places they do (some of it is because there's more than one way to do things) and ask about the contradictions you can't resolve.

I hope you have better luck her in the future.

There's your problem. You ignore the advice you don't like and aren't willing to do any work, you just want people to spoon feed you what you want to hear and that isn't going to happen. Why should people waste their time answering if you won't "waste your time" reading?

I'll Amen that.
Glad someone said it.
Been wanting to say that since seeing his
answers weren't what he wanted to hear.

This is coming from someone who closed a thread before I could get the info about the animals in question, then when I post a in a different thread what happened the thread got closed I got threatened with a suspension.

How is that supposed to make me feel when I was looking for info so I asked a question and you threatened to suspend me from the forum when the only person doing what you said would get a suspension was you?? Maybe you should of suspended yourself lol..

I do alot of testing at home Tony, you have no clue what I do here. I pos simple questions sometimes because of the wealth of knowledge that's on this site I should be able to get info I can trust from a big breeder.

In all reality we as a whole or worlds apart in terms of communication and how we are. I know for a fact I have someone who will back me on this but it doesn't matter because they got banned from the site by you when all they did was point out that you were the only person doing what you said would resort in a suspension.

I find this site funny, I really do. It's supposed to bea discussion forum right? Well tell me this how can a mod say whatever they want and insult someone but when they respond here comes the ole ban hammer?? Grow up and if you can dish it out at least be man enough to take it when it's dealt back to you. You've got the ole power and you abuse it and you've been called out before on it and it made you mad.
