Weird question

I have hatched out a ton of leos and fatties but just today on my site there is a thread about pipping snakes. It came up that most snakes have a pipping tooth.

Now, I have never noticed, and I have seen a leo hatch from first pip through to right out of the egg. I looked over some old pics from last season and could see no evidence of it...

So, my question is, do they have a pipping tooth, or do they just bull their way out of the egg??

well it might be gone by the time you get them. but it would be very cool to see if someone could catch it on film. heck even a hatchling snake with a pipping tooth :D

I believe they do too. When I first noticed this thread about an half hour ago I happened to look in the bator, and guess what I found!! hehehe a baby had just pipped. Now I tried to take pics of what could be the egg tooth, how ever my camara does crappy that close up. I could see it better with the naked eye. ggrrrr So I have no pics to post... :(

They do have a pipping tooth... It is very small and can hardly be seen... Its nothing more than a tiny clear "tooth" in the center of their top labials... It is usually gone before their first shed...
