this little guy didnt hatch but it has 8 legs must have been twins that grew together. just thought it might be a weird thing to show you guys and it actualy came from pure Fasciolatus X SHT enigma so no inbreeding at all in that one just one of thoughs weird things that happen.

Hmm, so I can't find the edit button. I posted that last reply quickly before class.

This is really neat, I think you should preserve it and save it! I am happy you posted it, many people would feel uncomfortable and not I do believe. I wish we saw more of this. I do not mean more odd growths, but more people posting about what they find. I find it necessary for the community to learn from each other and I feel like this is large part of this!

I hope this thread will not turn sour, and hope that it will be kept as a good view into the science of leopard geckos and the odd genetics that sometimes take place. Breeders of larger scales have a much better chance to see this then people only breeding a few.

I hope I get my point across clearly, my brain is fried from term papers..

Weird is a good word to use for that. It does indeed look like twins stuck together.

Your other hatchlings are amazing! I really love the super snow enigma.

No warning needed if you ask me. This is part of what we do, no amount of supplementation etc can bypass these random anomolies, they DO happen. (almost lookslike a crawfish *shrugs*)

Matt, thanks a lot for the picture. Very educational if you ask me, the others are very beautiful!!!!!I cant wait to see my fascio eggs hatch soon! Thanks for sharing bro.:)

If you look closely, you can clearly distinguish an extra pair of hind legs and an extra pair of front legs! It could have been twins indeed. Keep these photos and the juvenile (if yo still have it!) in a secure place, this is fascinating stuff!!

Yes, the second pair of back legs are completely formed. I would say that it was a twin.

the other geckos are very nice.
Thanks for sharing.

thats crazy!!!! unfortunately it does happen, and what we sometimes forget is that some of these "morphs" are really genetic mutations that would never survive in nature. although beautiful these geckos are genetic defects. it sucks but the more we breed for these mutations the more things like this will pop up.

ps. the pics of the hatcling are beautiful !!!!!!!

Fascinating! I would agree that these were twins that didn't form separately... a kind of conjoined twin mutation.

I went to school with a young girl who had an extra set of legs and hips growing out of her pelvis, bent towards her body. She would freak out everyone by making the extra legs kick. It was indeed a conjoined twin that didn't develop completely or separately.
