Paul is getting out of geckos all together.
It's been building for a while now and despite all the reasons why I want to keep raising geckos, the reasons for me getting out of it prevail.
I'm going to focus on moving all the leopard geckos first since there are so many of them and it's going to take quite some time for the market to absorb that many geckos. Once they've started dwindling down I'll be able to start moving the other species. Unfortunately I've already paired up a few of my leopard geckos so I'll be sitting on them for a few more months and will have a few babies to deal with yet, but it's not like I could sell everything overnight anyway.
For quite some time I've thought that I would just cut back to a much more easily managed level, but I've realized even that just doesn't facilitate what I need and want to do. Whether I have a dozen or two hundred, I'd still have to pick up feeders, ship geckos out, maintain a website (which I suck at anyway), deal with customers, yadda yadda yadda. I don't think I'll even be keeping certain ones that I've regarded as pets.
I just don't have the patience, energy or tolerance for it anymore, and it's no longer 'fun' for me.
It's definitely not an easy decision, but I'm confident that it's the right one.
So I guess I'm just another statistic. Whoo hoo. :main_no:
I just wish I had come to this conclusion BEFORE moving to Texas. Oh well, you know what they say about hindsight.
Anyway, as time permits I'll be compiling lists and pictures of what geckos I have to move and will be posting a few of them here in the Round Room. My family is down here visiting for a while, and I'm supposed to have my orientation/registration for classes this week so it'll be a while before I get around to everything.
Yep.
