Hi everyone. I wanted to show you all our newest addition to the family.

Her name is Nyx (we really feel she is a she).
These pics are of her in her old tank we got with her when we adopted her. I just did a little redecorating to make it look better. She now lives in a 30gallon tall that I will have pics of shortly.

Thanks for looking! She is a great little girl (actually she is pretty darn big, about 6"-7' long):main_thumbsup:

Ah...OK. I was gonna comment that a ten gallon (I think that's what she was previously in) was too small. But according to your wording above, you've already addressed that.

A couple things I also see wrong are (1.) sand and (2.) I don't see any kind of humid hide. Also, how is the tank heated? Just with a heat lamp?

Welcome to Gecko Forums!
Sand = BAD
Maurice is right...even the "digestable" kind can and will cause impactions. Use paper towels or repti-carpet. You can build a humid hide with tupperware and Sphagnum moss. He's right about the heat source too...she needs belly heat from an under tank heater to be able to properly digest her meals.

Welcome to Gf. I would get her off of any substrate that could be accadentaly ingested like sand or peat moss I have all my animals on paper towels that works great and will prevent impaction.

Yeah I knew right away a 10 gallon is WAY too small for an adult. babies yeah, juvies MAYBE, but she is huge. Poor thing was in that tank her whole life (over a year) and it didn't have proper heat source. Just a white bulb heat lamp over head and we noticed right away it bothered her eyes because she would blink A LOT and they looked dry. We changed it to a red light temporarily and it helped. She also liked being lightly sprayed and would lick the water off her skin and sides of the tank. It was cute to see her arch her back and look right up at the water. She has a nice personality considering her past owners.

Her NEW tank, the 30 gallon, doesn't have sand. :) She has a tile set up. And with the new undertank heater it warms her belly just enough on the tile and she LOVES it. She is sleeping so much better now too cause she is comfy and able to digest better. She just looks happier if thats possible.

I just took some pics of her new tank but need to crop them down. Be on the look out for the pics soon.

As far as a humid hide, she has one now. It's a heavy rock house thing that has moss in it and it sprayed daily. It's sitting on the heated side of the tank to keep it warm too. She tried it out today and stayed in there for a good few minutes before moving on. She just shed too so I dont think she is too terribly interested in it at the moment. My husband has been hunting around this forum and on the web for as much info as he can get to make sure she has just what she needs and will live a long happy life. So far so good compared to what she had. :) We learn something new everyday.

Thanks for the welcome too.:main_thumbsup:
