I suggested in a PM to skip feeding for a few days or a week to let his stomach settle down from the irritation, what do you think Robin?
yeah give him a few day of no handling and no food to let his stomach flora to get back in check (duh i wasnt even thinking that)

good suggestion tony :)

Figured it was a typo! Wanted to make sure ;)

I told Tony I'm going to try it. Didn't want to starve my boy :p

How long should I go? I won't handle him, and won't feed him. Is it ok to mist his hide and give him fresh water? :p

But when I talked to you Robin you said me handling shouldn't stress him out :( Ugh, poor beau. I feel awful. Like I said to Tony, just when I feel like I've done everything righ...turns out I haven't.

Don't feel too bad. It is a learning experience, and leos are tough enough to deal with it. I'm sure Beau will be fine.

handling shouldnt hurt but you need to give him time to digest and i didnt know he was reguring. adult are generally fed twice a week (maybe three times) but not everyday like babies need to be.. changing his water and misting his hide will be fine. i would say to wait until around monday or tuesday. he will not starve.

I changed to supers, that's all I did and put some calcuim vitamin d3 on them.

Yes, I still have verm. in his hide. I don't have any paper towels but can pick some up at the market. There's no sand though coming up when he throws up.

No, I've never had a fecal test done. I don't know how he would pick up anything considering i clean his tank really well.

sometimes adult leos dont take to large prey like superworms.

TY Tony :)

Twice a week? I didn't know that! Then I think you've caught me... I've over fed him! They told me 10 mealies every other day >.<
Here is when I asked: http://geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=63630

So then I gave him two supers last night, as it says...and he threw them up

i only feed my adults 2-3 times a week. if i feel mealies i give them more but if i feed supers i give them less if i feed roaches they may only take one or two (depending on the roach size and size of gecko)

I've been going through this exact thing (mealie trouble thread). She's lost weight and had been regurgitating immediately after she ate and she had one round of diahreha (have no clue how to spell that lol). She used to eat strictly crickets and I switched her out to mealies which she seems to love. I separated her to her own tub and put her back on crickets (the vet tech suggested baby crickets a couple weeks old). For 3 feedings now, she held down everything and had a normal poop last night. I assumed it was the feeding. Now I'm honestly thinking it could be the vermiculite in her moist hide. In the past I've seen bits and pieces in her poo, and last night there was no sign of vermiculite.
So for us, it was switching to small crickets or removing the vermiculite. Maybe I'll never know why... I only care that she's better anyway!

He won't eat and today is Monday. He's just sitting in the corner sulking. He looks so fat compared to my new geckos :p

I show him a mealie he looks at it and closes his eyes. No interest at all. I think I'm going to soak him in some water and see if that helps. I know he has some spots that are having trouble shedding. I just don't know how to go about this. I'm so scared of loosing a tail.

STILL not eating ... I hope it's like Tony said he's just looking for females. I just wish my boy would eat. I hate seeing him on the cool side sleeping in the corner. :main_no: Monitoring his weight and he's still fine. UGH! It's so fustrating! I put him in his warm/moist hide and he sits in there for a few mins then walks right out.

Erica, I got in on this late and have not
read every one of your posts.......But this latest one
seems to indicate....Not eating, but weight is still fine.
Does that mean no weight loss?
I was under the impression he was eating, throwing it up.
My thoughts and method here from non eaters.
He knows how to govern his temp better than you, so your job is to supply it only.
IMO...get rid of the overhead light,
up the UTH hot spot and give him {not joking}
3 drops Pepto Bismol for 3 nights.....No food.
You can just put it on your finger and touch it to his mouth {if he is known not to bite} otherwise eyedropper
it to that area. He will like it, no problem. Lick and ask for
another lick. 3 or 4 licks will do.........It's worked for me.
Then cut out the large worms and cut down on the meal worms. Cut off the dusting of the prey. Supply it
only when he decides he wants to lick it from a bowl.
I've had my share of non eating egg layers this year.
Take care. HJ

remedies

pepto bismol? o_O

Yeah :main_robin:, LOL. but no joke.Pepto Bismol.
It works for me.....
...and my geckos fighting tummy tigers.
Along with other people products I use:
Armour potted meat, human liquid
calcium, baby starter milk formular.
These products are readily accepted by
Mr., Miss, or Mrs.Gecko in a
licking process and used by me as a
appetite stimulant. [why have to dirty the blender?]
Then I take 5 minutes and play drop the meal or
wax worm in front of them............
After 4 days its just the drop the worm game or
MY choice if to add "tease" feeding a worm or two.
***NOTE:I only go to this process if non eating AND a concerned weight loss is observed.
Or Pepto Bismol when not holding food down.
Take care. HJ

Are you kidding? I don't have any around the house but I can go buy some if it's safe... I was told to use mineral oil ( i have that right now ) for my bearded dragon when he was having trouble going to the bathroom.

He's not a biter so I can give it from my finger...if I do that.

No weight loss has been observed, but I haven't actually weighted him. I can though...

As for upping the UTH I don't feel comfortable making it go up anymore... it'll burn him. I already have a small shirt on the floor because it's too hot for his stomach if he touches it.

As for the light, I'll ditch it but he's had it for three years...so I highly doubt that's stressing him out.

As for him and his body temp, yes I know he can regulate it, but if he's sitting in the cold corner just sleeping it's not right. He's very cold. I hate seeing him like this :( He's not acting like himself. I hope he's just looking for the ladies.

Are there probiotic suppliments you can give geckos? For example when a dog has an upset stomach/GI is it suggested to give plain yogurt to help restore the gut flora. Is there such as thing as a bulimic gecko? Any chance you might have picked up coccidia? I know that usually shows in failure to thrive and unexplained vomiting in dogs (sorry I use a lot of dog references cause that's what I know).

Honestly for what it costs I'd do the fecal to rule out parasites since so many can come in on you even if your gecko never leaves the house.

He has only thrown up twice. But yes, I already stated I'll be taking him in...just giving him a couple more days as a few suggested to me that a vet visit isn't nessisary.

I'm not having any money issues, that isn't the problem. I just hate vets, esp the ones who specialize in 'exotics' (anything other than a cat or a dog)... Just gets fustrating that I'm paying for someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
