im getting a leopard gecko pretty soon (hopefully in only about a month), ive already got everything i need, i just have a question about feeding...

i keep a few dozen crickets at a time for my FBTs w/ no problems, but i want to feed mealworms to my leo

ive never kept then before but im pretty sure thats i want to mainly feed my leo

im just curious as to how you guys keep/buy them...

do you buy huge quantities at a time and keep them in grains/fruit and stuff?

or do you just buy those little containers you see at petshops?

im not sure how many ill be going thru, but i only plan on getting one leo for now, and then maybe another down the road...

thanks,
andrew

You can order 1000 at a time from many different feeder suppliers online and keep them in the refrigerator. Try doing a search for keeping mealworms and you'll find tons of tips. We use Cody's Pro Gutload as bedding and keep them in sterilite tubs.

We also order 1000 mealworms and just keep them in the fridge. They last about a month or so, and so we only pay about $20 per month for those. One of those little cups from the petstore only holds 100 mealies, and so buying that way can get pretty expensive.

I have only bought the ones from the pet store but I am starting a colony of my own since I have two little piggies to feed lol. They are relatively easy to breed. I dont refrigerate mine because they dont eat the gutload when they are in hibernation mode and I want them to be as nutritious as possible for my leos.
