leopard geckos have massive heads, typically that indicates an animal capable of consuming very large prey items. that, coupled with the theory that you don't want them to stay babies for long, makes me feed mine the largest meal i can get them to eat each day. typically they gain ~10g a month on that type of feeding and get past the relatively delicate hatchling stage rapidly.

leopard geckos can take prey up to about the same width as their head.

eww I just played the part backwards when he/she finally swallows the cricket

Full size mealworms off the bat, full size supers by juveniles, and full size crickets right away too. My guys are normal sized though, the rest of my geckos are huge, except for my 2 pickier babies.

mine have been doing great on dubia roaches about half the size of their head, maybe a tad bigger. They were born on 11/17 at 3.5g-3.9g now 12/14 the biggest is 8.1g and the smallest is 7g. I keep a shallow dish in their cage with them available at all times. the last group I did with crickets and they were growing at half that rate.

I feed all of my lizards Dubia, from babies to full grown adults. There are plenty of size variation for all of the lizards, and I do not have to go out for feeders cause I keep a self sustained colony of Dubia at home.

I started with medium dubia nymphs. They also get full sized mealworms, phoenixworms, and smallish crickets.

Variety is the spice of life, eh?

I feed small crickets and mealwerms to my hatchlings.
But I think its hard to say exactly how many they eat per day.
Every gecko have diferent feeding times and quantitys.

I got some babys that prefer crickets and other that love mealworms.
Its hard to compare all the situations.

usually, after the gecko hatches, you wait till the gecko sheds and then feed it insects. But I would feed hatchlings SMALL MEALWORMS.:main_yes:
