a sharpie? another kind of marker?

In chicken eggs, we only mark with pencil if you do it the way your supposed to.

Getting more geckos means I really need to mark the eggs themselves to make sure I don't get the eggs confused.

I use thin sharpies. I bought the big multi-color pack. Once I have more females laying, I'll pick a color for each girl's eggs. Right now I don't have many females laying, so they each have their own container in the incubator. I also put her initial on the eggs.

Does the sharpie have to be non-toxic?

I had one that hatched out a...... "High Yellow"

It would probably be safest but I have never heard
any thoughts of problems from just using any laying around. take care. HJ

I use a thin black sharpie and write the female's initial and clutch number. Haven't had a problem yet I can see in 4 years.

I use "UpWrite" - a non-toxic permanent ink reptile egg marker. It retails for $21.99 at your local chain pet store.

...Just kidding. Sharpie.

I use a scrapbooking marker. It is acid free so I figured it was safer for the egg......just in case.
