Well I have this huge cage that I semi decorated and been wanting to get a Crested gecko, but I am saving my money for a group of leos. I hope to get one sooner than the reptile show in September. Tell me what you think of the cage. I was thinking of adding a waterfall , the water bottle is for comparison. The other black cage is for a temporary cage while the temps are to hot in the garage were the big cage is.should I add Bed a beast? what is safe for a crested gecko? Hope you like it :D

I think its very nice. I know a crestie would love to climb all over that, its nice and tall too, which they love. You don't have to add bed a beast, it might look better but i just use paper towels for now and its soooo much easier to clean. Also when they dive at crickets they often miss and get mouthfuls of paper towel, if it were bed a beast they could eat all that dirt and thats probably not good for them.

Could you tell me the dimensions of that cage? Also where did you get it cause it looks like a great crestie home to me.

First, I like the cage very much.

Secondly, I would add a waterfall if I were in your place and could afford a waterfall. A waterfall would look nice and would help maintain humidity.

Thirdly, I would probably add something that your crestie could use for a hide. One possibility is to thicken the vegetation slightly so that your crestie could hide in the leaves. Another possibility is to buy or make some kind of tower. Your crestie could hide as well as climb a tower.

Finally, I'm concerned about your comment about moving the crestie when the weather is hot. While I like that cage, I can't see a garage being the best place for a crestie. I can't see the garage being the right temperature for most of the year. As a result, you'll be trying to heat that huge cage for part of the year. I can't imagine that effort being very effective or efficient.

The other cage looks odd to me. I can't tell whether there's much ventilation. The cage looks much too short for a crestie. Obviously, you'll need to put something in that cage for your crestie to climb, and even then, I can't see him having much room to climb.

I'm also concerned about the whole idea of having to move a crestie every morning of the summer to ensure that the cage in the garage won't become too hot. Are you sure that you'll remember every day? What if something happens and you forget? What if something happens and you must be away from the house?

Personally, if I couldn't put a crestie cage indoors where the temperature is more stable, I wouldn't get a crestie.

Thanks, What I meant about moving the cresty to the other cage for most of the summer. Not back and forth. I wasn't even decorating that small black cage at the time, so it was just to let you know were i was going to move it. Its taller than a 10 gallon and its a 12 gallon tank with ventilation holes at the top as shone in the pics. The big cage could be warmed up pretty nicely because I have two 100 watt bulbs at the top(winter only) and 1 huge heat pad at the bottom. I seriously would love to bring in the cage and all into the house, but I am not "aloud to". I keep all of my Herps in the garage unfortunately. Yes I know I said no herps in the house , but I will make sure to be able to bring in the cresty inside before I get one because I definitely wouldn't want to have a roasted cresty after waiting for one for soooooo long. No, it doesn't get extremely hot that the leopard geckos will die. We had 106 temps the other day and they were fine in the garage because it didn't get that hot inside. Thanks for the comments and I will be sure to add more plants :) .

I like your cages. My crestie cage does have bed a beast because it's a planted tank. There's sphagnum moss on top of the "soil" and lots of climbing space so the crestie doesn't really interact much with the ground. I have a "crestie condo" for my guy in the basement for the days when it gets too hot upstairs. It worked fine last summer.

I also a planted home with exoterra/sphagnum moss/orchid bark as a base. I had a waterfall, but it was too loud. I figured it was annoying to my guy. So I filled it in & it's now a planter. He loves climbing it & camps out on the ledges, under leaves.

I would absolutely love a cage like yours. Even if you don't go for the full terrarium/vivarium style, you could easily add some potted plants at the bottom & train them up fake vines or sticks.

Is there such plants that don't need sunlight? Or little that I could probably take them outside once a week because I really don't want a UV bulb.
thanks, Edgar
