I know from experience, that some times in life, we take things for granted. I've been there, don't know what you got until it's gone! Not a good feeling. I'm curious what Gecko Forums means to people.

We've been breeding some kind of reptile for the last 10 years whether its Anoles, Veiled chameleons, Bearded dragons, or geckos. Until Marcia at Golden Gate geckos told me about this site, I was flying so to speak by the seat of my pants. We weren't doing a horrible job but it definitely could have been better. But I know if I would've had the Forums back than things would have been different. So to me Gecko Forums gives me a place to compare what I'm doing and what I could be doing differently. And the knowledge of all the breeders that take time out of there busy schedules to help us, is so very special to me! Its like we all have a personal pro helping us.

A social parlor! This is the most important thing to me. I've made friends here that will be with me forever!

I am blessed to have this web-site for so many reasons but the friends issue out ways all of them!

Thank you Kelli for bringing this to us, I'll never forget this! And to the moderators that keep this site happy and peaceful thank you!:main_thumbsup:

Eric, you and I have talked about this on many a phone call!

Gecko Forums is an outlet...of stress, of boredom, of questions, etc. I have made life long friends on here - you Eric being one of them.

In my life, I don't have friends that understand me...yes, they understand the bubbly outgoing, always laughing Heather, but they do not know or understand my love for reptiles. It's unnatural to them.

Thank you Kelli, and all the moderators that make this site possible...as I really don't know what I would do without it!

Also, GeckoForums is like a Second Home for me, its a place where people share the interest of reptiles. Sadly my friends at school make fun of me because i have reptiles. Like heather said, its unnatural to them. Since then i have never told anyone at school that i have reptiles. about a week ago i felt confident and told another one of my friends, All he did was laugh and said that I was one weird guy. I told myself i wouldnt tell anyone else, and im glad GeckoForums is here. This is the only place where people don't think im weird for having reptiles. I too thank the Administrator and moderators for making this a great place.

Gecko forums is a great community of like minded people with the same passion, Reptiles.

I myself was a complete NOOB in regards to geckos. i searched and searched books and online for the info i needed and answers to my questions. Then i found gecko forums and slowly but surely I learnt what i wanted to learn, my questions were swiftly answered and learn from the experience of others and will continue to do so.

Everyone is willing to give up a little of their time to answer questions or to offer advice either on the forum or on chat which i have frequented recently just to chat in general. So to answer the question.

Gecko Forum, just a great online community that i am glad to be a part of:main_thumbsup:

GeckoForums.net is the single thread that ties me to reality... I don't have much of an existence outside of my home because of complications with my spinal cord injury... All of my friends ditched me after my injury and I was pretty wrecked for a while... The friends I have made here have given me back a piece of what I'd been missing for quite some time... Thanks Kelli and everyone else here that has given me the precious gift of friendship!

this is the first site I found when I was considering owning a leo and it is were I will stay. Everyone here gives me confidence in my ability to care for my geckos and trusted informaton when im not feeling so confident, this site is amazing and the amount of respect people on her show each other is amazing. I will be sticking around here for a very long time to come.

I agree, everyone here has a great deal of respect for each other not to mention the generosity( referring to gecko forum secret Santa's). No other forum has members that are so generous and kind.

Gecko Forums is probably the best run forum I've ever been on. It's a reptile eutopia! Thanks mostly to the ever-vigilant mods and the kind and considerate people that populate its boards.

I was only just learning about reptiles when I signed up here. I had just got my job at the pet store and had just decided that I liked leos enough to buy one for myself. Gecko Forums has been an invaluable source of information, assurances, and even a solace for other things that are not reptile-related. I don't know what I'd do without you guys.

Through the friends I've made here, my love of leopard geckos has grown. Knowledge is indeed power and the more I learn about these wonderful little animals the more I love them and want to surround myself with them. You guys are an awesome group of people! :) Thanks for everything!

What a GREAT thread! My answer to the question "What does GeckoForums.net mean to me" is not just a simple statement I can make! It is a multi-faceted, simple yet complicated answer.

I wear two different hats here on GeckoForums.net. I wear the hat of an administrator and peace-keeper in a vast community of individuals co-existing and relating to one another in an online, and otherwise anonymous nature. So, as an administrator for this website, there is a different 'meaning' for the role I play and the responsibility I have to this community. For some, it may seem that I am the 'Mean Old Gecko Lady' that intervenes when things are going sideways, or escalate to personal attacks ... or more yet, to be the 'enforcer' of the rules. This role does give a tremendous sense of responsibility and value here on GeckoForums.net.

Yet there is another part of what this community brings to me that holds tremendous gravity in my life. As a disabled person who once was a vital and physical presence in the world, I long for the interaction with others I once had in my life away from my home life. Now that my home IS my life, and these beautiful, gentle creatures that are the focus of this new, online community we all share, and many of the wonderful relationships I am privileged to claim started in a forum environment.

I feel the most meaningful part of what GeckoForums.net brings to me is a sense of belonging in a community of people who not only share the common love of the animals we all share, but the ability to relate to one another without the complication of the physical limitations we all have. We can actually know each other without having laid eyes on each other! What a wonderful and remarkable way to relate to each other!

I don't have much of a 'social life'. GeckoForums.net gives me the opportunity to establish deep friendships and relationships with other people who share the same love for the animals, and the same values I have without physical and geographical limitations! Just think about the vast resources of information, pride in our geckos, and interaction we all have around the globe... right here on GeckoForums.net! WOW!

GeckoForums.net brings me something to be excited about every morning when I pour my coffee and sit down at the computer. I get to see all the photos of everyone's beautiful geckos, and stimulate my mind with some of the questions and topics of discussion every day... and most importantly, I get to interact with other living, breathing human beings who share the same love I have for these creatures we all have in common!

I may not be able to lay eyes on all of you in person, but you all are part of the intracate part of my life. I am so grateful that this community is here for all of us!

The forums are more then just Geckoforums.net. This is a place to where i can come on everyday kick back relax and enjoy people here. There are people that i find incredibly annoying and people that i can't wait to come home from a long nights work and hope they are online cause i enjoy talking to them.

There have been so many positive aspects to the forums that i would never be able to name them all. But the easiest way i can describe it is as Cheers. Everyone knows your name and welcome you with a smiling face and a good brew.

I have kept various reptiles and amphibians for as long as I can remember, and not until Geckoforums.net have I ever had such an outlet. Some of my favorite things about the forum are the fact that everyone here shares a common interest in reptiles (among other things), that it gives me a place to go and find good advice in regards to keeping and breeding Leopard Geckos, that everyone here has been so willing to share their experience and knowledge of husbandry, and that thanks to Geckoforums.net I've met numerous people who love reptiles as much as I do, rather than fear them. I have an affinity for constrictors that nobody I know in my immediate area shares, but here I find people to relate to. The majority of the people I've met on Geckoforums.net have been very good to me, and I appreciate them all very much. Thank you KelliH and the Mod Squad for making it all happen, and thanks to all of the members of GF for making the community what it has become. I love it here.

Whenever Gecko Forums is down for maintenance or software upgrades it reminds me of that Matthew McConaughey movie EDTV, where everyone is glued to their TVs watching him and then they go off the air and everybodys looking around, like now what do we do!

My favorite line from EDTV : Okay, we have Ray Pekurny on the panel today. His book is called My Brother Pissed On Me. Is that a metaphor or did he really piss on you?
