Sometimes Tiamat does this weird thing where she walks slowly around her tank and slowly moves her tail back and forth. It's almost as if she's stalking something. She also does the slow tail wag when she's startled. Is this a sign of dominance or unease?

I think it is defensiveness actually. Kiya did the same thing the first time she saw Ares, haha. She wagged her tail slowly like a cat. It was kinda cute because she did that for two seconds and darted backwards. XD She was such a cute chicken.

I usually read the tail wagging as a warning sign of "don't come near me"; but I have also seen a relaxed, half asleep gecko slowly waving its tail, almost like how people tap their feet when they're relaxed and happy.

ヒョウモントカゲモドキは面白いでしょう。 (In reply to your signature ;))

I have seen Stripes doing the same thing too. I didn't know an angry gecko could be so cute.

We have one juvenile that does it all the time. She thinks she is miss bad thing! She has never been in the tank with another gecko so she does it to her reflexion, the rocks, the food....just about anything. I hope her little attitude improves when she is big enough to breed or some male may be in for a rough time,lol.

I figured it might be a sign of dominance. Tiamat does think she's the sh*t. lol She's very laid back to handle and everything, but she just does it to all the stuff in her tank. lol I'd imagine if I put another gecko in with her she might be a bit of a bully though.

Gothra-さん, すみませんが、「ヒョウモントカゲモドキ』をわかりません。>。< I can read it but the pronunciation isn't making sense to me. わたしはばかでしょうね。 時々、カタカナがへたです。:\

ヒョウモントカゲモドキ is Leopard gecko in Japanese. :)
"ヒョウモン" = leopard skin pattern
"トカゲモドキ" = gecko

I have studied Japanese too, but I quit last year, so I'm not very good either! I have a Japanese book called "leopard gecko and friends" (ヒョウモントカゲモドキとその仲間), that's why I know what leopard gecko is in Japanese. ;)

p.s. I'd never attempted to read the book, I only look at the pictures! LOL

Wow! You learn something new everyday! Thanks!

And that book sounds neat! lol I'd love to have something like that - I've got a lot of Japanese art books that I STILL can't read most of it...And I'm in my second year! D:
