What sort of trait is it? Here I am thinking it's line-bred, and a jungle hatched today from a SHTCT x Mack snow egg. How'd that happen? I'm thinking they were both het for jungle then? Or could it be a random mutation?

Aargh, genetics.

I mean, am I wrong? That IS a jungle, right? I'm going by the broken bands on the tail and the irregular pattern. Strange when you're expecting black and white stripes, or black and yellow stripes, and you get this little surprise!

Aaaand just because I like pictures :D

Here's mommy, Spike

(the picture doesn't do her justice. She's a gorgeous goldenrod color)

And daddy, Felix

Jungle is thought to be both polygenic and recessive. It's seen most often in normals and Mack Snows. That baby is an adorable jungle! Both parents would have to have Jungle in their lineages then.

Yep, polygenic and recessive from what I've researched.

Jungles will have not only an aberant pattern overall, but they will also have broken tail banding. Without the broken tail bands, they're simply Aberants. :main_yes:
