If it was an online purchase, I'd say head on, top down, and lateral pics that way you can see the full pattern and the eyes.

I voted "from above" but really would like to see multiple photos: head on, both sides, from above and an eye shot if that was important to the morph being purchased.

Preferably with Exif data available to prove no over the top processing (which is apparently a big issue in the beardie world).

I prefer a natural light shot from the top and side. If it's an eye morph, of course an eye shot! Personally, I have found myself being more drawn to sites where people have multiple shots of the geckos that they are selling, although I know that is a little more time consuming. I'm not fond of photos that have been "enhanced". I want the gecko in the picture to look as close to the one that will arrive at my house as possible. If I get one that isn't nearly as colorful as the photo, odds are I'll be taking my business elsewhere the 2nd time around :) I know this was a little more than you asked, but so often I see pictures that have been obviously very touched up because the seller is seemingly trying to take a "glamour shot" of their gecko...it just makes me feel like they are trying to trick me.

I voted "from above" but I prefer to see one from above and the sides, perhaps also the face if an eye morph is claimed. I try to have as many pics of my babies as possible, but putting them all on a website to be seen can leave your site feeling cluttered. If someone wants more photos I don't hesitate to take them or send them. Just my 2 cents.

I think that 1 photo is plenty for a site so it's not cluttered. I only know of a couple sites that even offer multiple pics for each animal. If someone is truly interested in an animal im selling and wants to see eye pics or any other shots, I'll gladly take them and send them as many as they want. Any of my customers will tell you that I send tons of pictures of the animal they're interested in.

On a side note, there's not many websites that even have updated lists of animals for sale. Most of the geckos I've purchased are from calling up the breeder and asking what they really have for sale. It's nearly impossible to list every animal you have for sale which is why it's important to contact breeders and not only go off of what they have on their site.

Michelle.....i say take one picture of what best represents your gecko and go from there. If someone is truly interested and needs to see a close up of its vent, then take a pic and send it to them. I usually send all my "extra" pics via my iPhone to a prospective buyer. It's way easier and more effective for myself anyways.

I agree. If a gecko doesn't have much of a pattern, then I take it from the side. If there's a pattern, I take them in ways to get most of the pattern in. I also take ones from top. I just don't put all pics on the website (when it's actually updated). It would look too messy.

What Dennis said- one where you can see both. So a top view with an eye shot. Thats gives you a pretty good idea of the whole leo. 1 pic is all you need when doing it from this angle.

I voted for above. Ideally I would like as many photos as possible (above, side and eye shots if applicable), in natural light, but I also understand what work comes with that. I'm also sure if you are a larger scale breeder more than one photo of a gecko can be time consuming, not only in shooting but categorizing and saving photos into specific folders. Not to mention the clutter it would cause on a web site. But as a buyer I appreciate a breeder taking the time to show me more photos.

Wanted to add...CLEAR PHOTOS. Can't stand looking at a fuzzy picture. Quickest thing to get me passing on a site or a leo.

a twenty-thirty degree angle top shot allows you to see the top and side. I prefer that if I'm looking at images of reptiles. this gives a good perspective of the top and side and allows you to see the eyes as well. Natural lighting and no photoshop editing.
