I really dont like taking care of smelly jumpy crickets. I'd like to switch to mealworms only, and just do crix for a treat a few times a week. If I have 3 baby (3-4 month old leo's) what size and how many mealies should I get?:main_huh: Are Mediums too big? Oh, and where do you recommend I purchase them from, who has a good rep and reasonable prices?

Most hatchling leos start out just fine on medium mealworms.

I get mine from GrubCo.com. Good prices and I've always gotten good quality and 100% live arrival from them.

At 3-4 months old they will have no problem with large mealworms, and many will be ready for superworms.

SUPERS?! You must have massive 3-4 month old geckos! My baby was born 5/9/2010 and is approx. 4" long incl. his tail. I dont have a gram scale yet, so I cant give you that info. but I think the supers would eat him!

I havent even been brave enough yet to give my 1 1/2 yo Adult supers!:p Im going to attempt that this week.

Depending on how many geckos you have, you may want to look into breeding mealies. Very easy, low care, no smell, and breed profusely!

I wouldn't necessarily say no smell. Just clearing that in case you decide to breed. My mealworm colony went bad while I was on vacation and when I got home they smelled HORRIBLE.

OK T-ReXx...I got them yesterday. I thought they'd come in a container or something! Is there an easy way of getting them out of the material sack and off the newspaper...LOL...They are clinging to everything, I tried shaking them out, but all that did was make a mess. What do you do with yours?

LOL..

That's how most mealworm companies ship their mealworms. For me, I just carefully open the newspaper little by little into the container I keep them in. I gently wipe the newspaper with my hand and most of them fall off the paper and into the container. I also turn the bag inside out and handpick them off. It does take a little while, but it is what it is. :)
