Ideas:
Names of movie characters (ex: Neo)
Something Spanish (ex: Fernando)
A name of a type of candy (ex: Skittles)
A name of a fruit (ex: Peaches)
A name of a college Mascot (ex: Sparty)
Something that in no way describes a gecko (ex: Fluffy)

I have two coming to me on Monday, and I already have their names picked.

Other names I considered, though, are:

Boys: Bolan, Bowie, Demian, Winston, Mork, Parker, Orwell

Girls: Mage, Thera, Laverne, Mindy, Beatrice, Gertrude (the last two are main characters in Hermann Hesse books, and one is a title of a Hermann Hesse book).

I'm not good at thinking of girl names

The male I'm getting in a couple of weeks will have a draconic name based on The Dragonriders of Pern. I came up with Olerith, which is a cross between "Yellow" And "Yeller" And adding a draconic ending (th).

well, i have Edesia and Pax. Both are minor goddesses from Roman mythology.

Then there is Blue... Its one of those ironic names like Tiny. Blue is actually bright yellow.

Basically, you just have to use your imagination. Or, you can just let the animal name them self...

Correction: I just had 4 geckos arrive this morning. One crested and 3 leos.
I named my high yellow "Cotten", my male Bell is named "Jethro", and my SHTCT is named "Joplin".
My crested baby that arrived? His name is "Crackity Jones".
And man is he SUPER adorable.

All of our reptiles are named with a horror theme.

Anything we got unsexed (like cresteds) have sort of generic names like VooDoo and Hades. Our pacman frog is Jaws since we don't know the sex. Those all seem okay for either sex. I want a dark crested that I'm saving the name Twilight for.:) Our tokay is Lucifer.

Some of our other names are Norman, Damien, Kruger, Rafe, October, Akasha, Ginger, Hilda, Blair, Sybil, etc.

I really like doing the theme idea. If I didn't go with horror, I probably would have picked music names. Or maybe cartoon.:)

Well...I just have two geckos.
But here are their names.

Nakomis - My mom named her, she liked Nakomis from Big Brother. The girl always changing her hair color, she was fun. My mom named her Nakomis cus she loved the name and the fact that my gecko has a bunch of different colors.
I wanted to name her Shiloh, because she has always been a shy little thing.

Bridan - Given to me by a GF member, an adoption.
I was gonna name her Quasi. Like Quasimodo.
But decided against it.
Then I was gonna call her Breyer, like the ice cream. Because "Br" as in "Broken" and "eyer" like, "eye"...so "Broken Eye", because she has eye deformities.
But I hate Breyers ice cream, so I chose Bridan because it still sounds similar and was the name of a South Park character lol.

=D

I have a dog named Dexter.:D We named him before ever watching the show though. Now I love the show and his name just seems to fit him even if he's not a reptile. He's our only dog with a horror name.:)

I have a music theme going on for the animals in my house!
My dog is Ella Fitzgerald after the jazz musician (my son named her, he's a huge fan of Ella).

My high yellow gecko is "Cotten" after Elizabeth Cotten the awesome folk musician.
My Bell male is named "Jethro" after Jethro Tull (my husband happened to be listening to them when I was trying to think of a name for him).
My SHTCT is named "Joplin" after Janis Joplin
And my Crested Gecko is named "Crackity Jones" after a song by the Pixies.

Any other crested I get will be named either after Pixies' songs, Ween songs, They Might Be Giants songs, or Beck songs.
They're TOO cute to name something serious.:D

Names can Say Alot. Hello?

thinking of names this thread is for the confused owner on what to name their gecko, so lets make a list of names for them and us

Thinking on relating to someone
or something seems to be most persons attempt at picking
names for their critters. Oddball family or friend's names
can be fun and a bit of a remembrance to use.
(Especially if passed)
Native American Ancestors, Old trapper, hunting, fishing
and golf/sports buddies, etc. ...usually their fun nic-names.
But be careful on choosing any nic-names of the X-rated type.
take care. HJ
