what's so bad about kink in tail?

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is so bad about a little kink in the tail? Is it only the looks (I personally don't think it matters much), or does it influence fertility??? I've seen some ads that sold a gecko with a kink as "pet only." Is this because it diminishes the breeding value of the gecko (does his offspring get a kink, too?). Or is the kink due to fights with cage mates? Can a kink vanish after some time? Is it worse in males than in females? How much do I need to reduce a gecko in price if it has a kink (what degree of kink)?

What about curled tails? Is it like a disease? Can those geckos still mate? Is it hereditary?

The thing is that the tail kink can be hereditary, and thus could get passed onto that gecko's offspring. In that case, you'd want to know if the gecko you're looking to aquire is for breeding purposes. I believe the tail curl is the same thing.

Most of the adds I've seen will state if the kink was there at the time the gecko hatched out, or if the kink was aquired after it hatched. Hope that makes sense. :)

That makes sense to me. They just don't want a bunch of babies with kinks because nobody's gonna want them as much. Or they're just want them as a pet, not a bredder.
