Now that it has healed, it kind of looks like a blood blister, but before it definitely looked like a burn or popped blister. Very odd...

That's just it, there was never a wound to begin with. It was fine, then it shed and the spot just developed. It's shed 3 times since, with no changes, other than the spot getting progressively darker.

That's pretty much the same conclusion i've come to. The spot is growing with him, takes up the same space as when it first appeared.not spreading, not shrinking.

My crestie, Reeses, shed last night, and I noticed a weird patch on it this morning.it's like there's no pigment at all, almost like scarring.there's never been any conflict between the 2 babies (they share a 8 gal plastic cage), and I'm sure I would of noticed any injuries, seeing as I handle them fairly often. The patch I'm talking about is right where it's shoulder and head come together. It's eating fine, quite spunky, otherwise normal besides the spot.any thoughts?
ok so i am new to Geckos but i have had other reptiles for years. i have seen this in a Beardie before as well as in our BTS. the beardie got a tiny bite from a cricket i did not notice even with daily handling, until he shed and a patch fell off. and the BTS got a bit of sand under a scale and the scale got infected and fell off. the only thing we had to watch out for after that was sometimes the sheds didnt come off the bare spot and needed a little help.

From the pictures it looks like a wound that is healing nicely. You should separate cage mates, provide a sterile environment and keep it clean. Make sure crickets are gut loaded before feeding them to your geckos. Not only is it more nutritional but with some of the crickets being offered, from some of the commercial retailers, their mandibles are larger and could inflict wounds to your geckos. I believe Gecko Time has a write up on the differences. For comparison there are a number of threads on the net regarding Giant Geckos and their breeding injuries to reference with nearly identical injuries but to the top of their head. Hope this helps.

I am glad it healed nicely. When I first saw your pics it look like when he shed it took off a layer of skin with it. But I am glad it healed fine :)
