wow, $2000 each????? Holy... Well maybe I was just looking at them all wrong.
I really do like the ones with the blue tails, which is why I bought that one from Kelli for Rusty =] And he has a male with a blue tail that he will breed with the female next year. I am actually really excited to see what we get out of them.

Nah, Alex Hue wasn't around when the first Patties came out. Maybe you're thinking of Mark Bell or Jay Brewer?

My husband bought a Patternless female for $1500 the first year they came out. He bought 6 more females and ended up spending $10,000 total for 7 females. At that time males were $3500 and he did not buy a male.

He bred those females to Normal males and created a bunch of Hets. The first season he made $15,000 in sales on the Patternless project and $13,000 the second year.

Oh my! And who says you cant make money breeding leos? Geez, that is just unthinkable for me. And now you can pretty much get them anywhere for like $50. Idk, to me that just seems sad in a way...

Well that was about 13 or so years ago. I understand why it might seems sad but that's the way the reptile market works. Initially the new and rare morphs are very expensive and as they become more common the price comes way down.

As far as regular Patties Het for nothing go, I have raised my prices on them the past couple of years because you just don't see them offered that much these days. They have become a bit more rare, which is a good thing IMO. :)

Maybe I should try and bring the Murphy Patternless, lmao. If I knew back then what I know about leo breeding as a small business I could have paid my tuition and would have been a very happy camper.

I have some het patties right now, they're part of my dark project.
If I get some regular patties non-het, that's cool by me, too. I just have to prove out that they are non het in a year or so. =D
