Everyone's definition of "pet" is different, that is great! I am thrilled with the 50+ species I keep, from Phelsuma to Oedura to Leachy to Leos. Many folks turn up their nose when they cannot pick up a gecko. They are eliminating a lot of very cool geckos! I think once they really get into what keeping geckos is all about, observing them and creating a habitat as comfortable as possible for them in our homes, those types of inhibitions just fade away. I could not think of not liking my P. klemmeri or my P.m. grandis because I cannot pick them up, nor my Coleonyx mitratus because they lung at me every time I open their set-up! I respect that they don't adore me or sit complacently as I admire them. I like them for who they are, some of nature's most interesting creatures: GECKOS!!! :main_thumbsup:

I don't handle any of my geckos on a regular basis and I am quite content to observe them
Keeping reptiles has never been a real" hands on" thing with me
Even my Beardies are not handled much

So-I agree-watching and observing and appreciating them for what they are is what it is all about for me

i voted leos.. and i love my leo with all my heart. she's amazing :) but my roommate has a crestie, who i love like my own.. they're really different, but both equally amazing. if cresteds had been in the pole, i may have voted that way. i'd very much love to get a crestie one day. i probably will as soon as i'm out of school!

I voted Leos, because I really like the variety of morphs that are out there. I have spent most of 2008 collecting different morphs and I'm addicted. I keep telling myself, "This will be the last one I buy," then I go and do it again. I began breeding in February, 2008, and I think I'll collect them for the rest of my days (as long as I can care for them properly). I'm hooked on living works of art.
