Where's the best place to keep Mealies and Supers? I have very small breeding colonies of each and have been keeping them in a linen closet but woke up this morning to find rotten fruit and water (moisture) dripping from the plastic cover (they were in containers that had holes around the sides), ugh!

Seems like no matter where I put them I have an issue with moisture. I live in an apt so there aren't that many places to put them. Any ideas? Or some characteristics of the the best conditions?

Maybe try a deeper container and then just leave the lid off. That's how I keep mine (no lids) and have no moisture issues. I also put egg crate on top so that they can climb on those if they want to.

The only issue lid less is that I always find a beetle somewhere OUTSIDE of their container, lol

Mine are in those really huge underbed containers...under my bed. I have a colony of each, each in their own container. Holes drilled in the lid. No moisture problems whatsoever :)

i keep my supers in a hexagon fishtank lidless with oat meals as the base medium they are on and just toss some carrots in their for moisture. i have a mesh top i have for when i wish to breed them but the tank is fairly tall.

I would love to do that but I have a dog that decided to lay on some sheets I kicked under the bed one night when the girlfriend and I bought new ones. She's made that her new favorite spot. Forget the dog bed, I want the sheets and old raggedy comforter at night.:main_laugh:
