Most crosses should be interesting. The Bell albino version looks amazing and Snow-crosses are beautiful as well! I still have to see a cross with one of the top-notch tangerine lines, they should be smoking hot.

I don`t want to hijack this thread, but I just had to snap my camera and do some shots:

My first attempt to add more tangerine to my W&Ys

One of my first Tremper Albino W&Ys. I will cross them with Raptors next year.

I produced a W&Y Aptor this year, but she is just about to shed.

I have to agree with you robin. I think they may have potential with the right pairings though. I would try throwing in a pattern apposed to color (bold stripe, red stripe, etc).

Robin and Enigmatic, most of the stuff that has been shown is barely even touching the good stuff. The stuff that's hiding in racks that isn't show on the internet is what makes me very excited for this morph.

I'm super excited in the Lavender, Redstripe Bell, Hyper Xanthic, Radar, Lavender Redstripe cross out there myself. I think people not getting in on the gound level are pretty much shooting themselves in the foot.

Just remember the Bell Albino strain when it first came out wasn't that hot either. Just food for thought.

i have seen a few amazing ones but for the most part i am not that impressed. also with the market like it is. its a matter of time before they are cheap. skip US sales and buy them and import them from europe. right now i do not think it is a good time for new morphs to "rejuvenate" the leopard gecko market. if the economy picks up yeah.

also if there are so many out there in collections i can only imagine how many will be released. of those how many are going to be exceptional and how many are going to look like hypos or high yellows. its not a strong enough "morph". it is too variable. i have seen the photos out there and photos from europe. i just do not see it making the waves people think it will. the shatter eye on the other hand could be big.

The market needs a severe reduction in the number of breeders before it will pick up. I am doing my part... :main_rolleyes:

Well Robin I'll be more then happy to prove you wrong...noone is releasing W/Y's in large #'s. From who I know 100% that has them, I would say 3/5 I would trust in not releasing more then 4-6 the first year publicly, If any at all. Due to what they are crossing them with as well as proving out different genetics.

3/5 in the US. what about in europe? i know certain people will release more than 4 or 6. they want the ching. isnt that is what it is about to SOME? breed breed breed. seen it before with a couple of individuals and i do not think they will be able to control themselves on this one either.

What about europe? The low level breeder more then likely can't afford to have geckos imported in. No fear of Europe. Their market is actually better then it is here.

As far as for the other 2 breeders in the US I fear they will satruate the market sure but I'm a firm believer that line breeding will win out from the mass #'s some people will produce.

Hi robin,

what you describe fits most of the morphs that have ever been released to the market. The fist Snows, Enigmas, bold stripes and others- impressive? I`don`t think so. Either you like a morph and see something special about them you want to work on or you don`t. I knew three people breeding W&Ys in europe in a larger scale. One of them sold animals that hadn`t been W&Ys at all and is off the leopard gecko business and it seems that the other two are also of the market as they stopped posting anything and hadn`t been to Hamm the last times. The other ones work with a very limited number of animals.
You need time, space and outstanding animals to cross them with in order to produce the next wow-effect-W&Y. And I`m sure there will be some! If you don`t like the morph- don`t start working with them. Thats the good thing about the new market situation: it is more about the fun and less about the dollar signs in some breeders eyes. I don`t think this is a bad thing and I personally love W&Ys and can`t wait what they will produce the next years!

Thanks
Karsten

Red stripe would be pretty sweet. Id say adding eclipse into the mix is a must, but it looks like your already one step ahead of my thoughts. A nice green hued gecko would also be cool. Like some of the ones over at PG.

First and foremost I believe that what's needed is to take the hypo out of the W/Y morph. We need to add more Oranges, Yellows, and Lavenders. All those colors will be enhanced by this particular morph.

I have seen crosses with Bells and they don't look super impressive due to the geckos that they were bred with. This is going to take at least 3-4 years to really start putting out animals that will wow people.

I know alot of people are nay sayers and are waiting for other people to do the work on really creating kick ass geckos. I'm a firm believer that if you sit on the sidelines you'll never get ahead of the curve.
