I am going to breed soon but it will mostly be for fun/experience but I might sell some because I need to feed my other geckos =/,without a doubt I would love to keep them all if I had the money to keep them.

Saddly i must admit ATM im doing it for the money since I just lost my job and having trouble getting a new one. But Leo's truly are awsome animals. I prefer them to any animal i've ever worked with cause each and every one of them has a personality.

I'm so glad to see that basically everyone here is in it for the pleasure and enjoyment of these lovely creatures. I'd have to say that if you're only breeding for the money, you've lost track of the reason you initially got involved. We breed leopard geckos because we enjoy our little family of geckos more than most things. Whether or not we make money off of them is no regard.

I think in the back of most peoples heads they would like to become the next Ron Tremper or Steven Skys just to name a few but if we didnt love it and enjoy it we would never get into it in the first place. I only want to breake even and my prices reflect it big time, 4 years ago when I started I thought what a cool way to make a little extra cash, doing something that is so fascinating and a art I can do ( I suck at drawing, sculpting, ect). But in my opinion to make a actual taxable profit you need lotts of money and patience to even get started, by time a newer morph gets into my price range everyone has one or is working with them so the chance of making a real profit is slim to none. Like most everyone els said I breed for fun mainly and seeing the different outcomes.

I breed them In my class to show real examples of genetics to my students, I allso get them involved in the feeder projects. with the geckos crickets and roaches, I have subjects for statistics, graphing, math, scientific methods, life cycles, populations, biomes and more. I also just like hanging with the geckos when no one is around. I wouldnt mind making a little money off selling some, but it would just go into buying more traits. I think getting into them to survive off of would be unwise, at least in NJ where 50k is the poverty line.

I love making all sorts of art and leopard geckos are living breathing art. I get a lot of joy from looking at all the beautiful healthy happy animals. Conscious evolution is the way I look at. The ability to create whatever you want is priceless. Just have to make sure you keep your responsibility to each animal.:D
