I'm very lucky, most of my geckos are VERY friendly and "outgoing"; although it depends on the individual gecko. Some geckos are more shy than others; but I believe the more you interact with it, the more they'll come out from their hides. I go to visit my geckos almost once every 30 minutes per night (during commercial breaks...
); I'll pick up and kiss whoever that is outside. I also talk to them alot.
Sometimes I can see them in broad daylight too; I have 2 that doesn't mind the bright light and will sleep in the open (with hands and legs flying everywhere, lol). As Aliza mentioned, I will also pick them out from their hide to check for retained shed.
