so ive put my geckos together twice. My male vibrates his tail but then doesnt continue. He just goes and hides. Its weird its like hes interested but she wont let him? Do you think she will eventually ovulate? im going to try to put them together tonight. it has been 2 or 3 weeks since they have been together.

Some males will "do the deed" instantaneously and others take awhile. I'd recommend leaving them together for a few days unless one is hurting the other. After a few days, separate and check the female during the next week to see if she's ovulating. If not, wait a week and try again. I'm just using my common sense here since I keep my males and females together for the entire breeding season.

You asked if we think she will ovulate.... So I'm guessing that means that she isn't. If she isn't ovulating then they shouldnt be together and there is no mystery why they are not breeding. We are still at the beginning of the breeding season. You can't rush an ovulation

I do wonder, though, whether putting a female who hasn't ovulated yet with a male can trigger ovulation.

Paper towel trick seems to trigger ovulation just from personal experience...ive also seen pairs lock up without female ovulation and a few days ovulation starts.
