okay, we have two leos, they're both juvis but one is about to be a "sub-adult" and they don't hang out in the hides together or anything at all. They go to seperate hides all the time; but we've never had problems with them fighting or anything of that nature, they just don't hangout.....Is it possibly because one of them is male, or is it because one prefers the cooler side and one prefers the warmer side?? or is there another alternative??? any info would help....thanks!:main_huh:

They arent naturally social, in their natural habitat they all live together in rocky formations but each have their own marked territory... Perhaps yours just dont have a social nature...

If one of them is male, I assume the other is female. Even though they are juvis there is a good chance that they will breed way before you are expecting it and way before they should. I recommend that you separate them (if the other is male also, you may have fighting problems at a time that you don't expect it).

thats the thing, we're pretty sure that they are both female, but we're not a hundred percent sure. like in all honesty I think they are both females, which in that case, I don't think it would end up really being a problem. Rich, I can see what you're saying, that makes sense. But thanks to both of you for the help.

I have a female that has NEVER been placed with another female her entire life. I got her when she was 5, and now she's 8. I was hoping when I got my latest few geckos to place one of the females in with her to distribute the population a bit. Yah that lasted all of about 5 minutes...all of which Lady (my older female) was screaming and croaking at the other female, chasing her around the tank and attempting to bite her. Some females just don't "play well with others". Just be glad it's not violent! That, and be SURE you have two females, otherwise unwanted eggs are a sure thing :)

Also, it is very important to keep little ones apart as they age because you may not know whether they are two males or one male and one female until it is too late. We keep clutches together for a month or so at times, but once they get to be around 15 grams, we always keep every gecko seperate because you just never know and they can really surprise you.
