Winter feeding schedule

There was a thread recently about when to switch over to winter feeding schedule, that I can't find.

I just switched to winter feeding schedule this weekend: feeding every 3rd day instead of every other day. The babies and juvis still get fed every day.

I did this for a few reasons: most of the adults (I have 13 adults in 5 cages, counting a pair of fat tails) have demonstrated less hunger in the past week. No one has laid eggs in a month and most not in 2 months; Most of them are tipping the scales around 100 grams, with another set weighing more in the 50's and 60's which seems to be normal for them. Tonight was the first night I made them wait an extra day and didn't feel there was any more hunger than if I'd fed last night. One cage of 3 didn't even chase the crickets.

I hope this is helpful to anyone deciding when to switch.

my 2 biggest leos seemed to have stoped eating reguardless to what i throw at them... they dont seem to be loosing any weight though... i try to keep a steady offering of food in there for them... should i not??? neither one seems remotely interested in much of anything at all... been this way for a while now... do you think this is the winter mode?

It usually hits mine around OCt.. They're a bit early this year. If I feed mealworms, I keep them in there --it can't hurt. If I feed crickets I only feed every 3rd day, don't put many in and take them out the next day (as long as I'm sure they won't bother the geckos. I have one where I can't keep any feeder in the cage because they seem to feed on his tail).

A few of mine are slowing down, too, but many are still eating normal. I'm sure they'll be slowing down soon, too.

Mine arent eating as much as usual too.
Normally, at dinner time they are ready and waiting.
The last few days, they act like they couldnt care less!

huh ?

do they stop eating over winter ?

It depends on the gecko. Some of them slow down, some barely eat, some pig out as usual. As long as they seem healthy, don't worry.
