Hey I'm trying introduce super worms to my gecko but he wont touch them. At first I cut them in half but after sizing them up he left them alone. Then he ate three supers and a couple days later I put 4 in his dish and they've been in his terrerium for over a week and he wont touch them. Any advice or tricks to get him to eat them? Thanks in advance for any help...

Some geckos just won't eat superworms dude, they can be as stubborn as any human, if they don't want it, they won't eat it.
Mealies are allways a sure bet and locusts/crix.

+1, I only have a small number of geckos that will regularly eat supers. All of mine are given mealies and i throw in supers time to time for diversity, as well as dubias, but most will leave the supers alone. Supers secret a defensive liquid which turns off some leos I think.

You shouldn't be cutting them up. If the supers are too big for your gecko then don't feed it to them until they're bigger. Like said above, some geckos just don't like supers. Lucky for me my geckos will eat pretty much any type of feeders.:main_thumbsup:

OK thanks for the help...my gecko is 5 months old and 45 grams. The supers are 2 to 2 1/2 inches long and someone advised me to cut them in half for size and for the fact that he said supers can eat through the tails...so, what should I do? He also has a staple of crickets and mealworms, the occasional feeding of wax worms which he loves. Should I drop the supers or what?

If your gecko has no other problems eating any other feeders besides supers, then you really don't have to feed him supers. If he is eating fine, then just drop the supers, and stick with what he eats! (but don't make the waxworms his regular diet)

You don't really have a problem if the gecko is eating crickets and mealworms. Feed it crickets and mealworms as it's diet!

We only have 2 Leos (out of 100+) that won't eat worms of any kind. Everyone else eat Supers. It wasn't always like that though. Before the mealworm shortage a while back they were all on regular mealworms. Most of them wouldn't touch those big scary superworms. We ordered medium size supers and they went over much better. Eventually we worked them up to large supers. I don't know of any pet stores that carry medium supers but if you have an independent pet store in your area they might be able to order a bulk box and split it with you. I think mediums supers are the easiest to keep alive anyway. Change their bedding frequently and you can keep them alive for a couple of months + .
