Hi I am starting to worry about my new leopard gecko.Everything is as it should be,right temp and humidity yet whenever I present a superworm to him with a pair of tongs he refuses it.He ate 2 the first night but after a week his tail has gotten smaller.I don't know what else to do.Please let me know if this is normal after a week.Thank you. When he comes out he moves around and seems normal.I got him last tuesday at the largest and best breeder in my province in Canada. Please let me know if this is normal after one week.I turned the light on to take the photo.

PS I have watched many of your videos on Youtube and am very impressed with all the knowledge you have about geckos for a 20 tear old..Keep up the good work.

Hi Pierre, and welcome to the Forum!

When you say, "Everything is as it should be. . ." That really doesn't help us, as what you think "as it should be" and what we think might not be the same thing.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I will be along shortly to help you. Thanks for the picture. That really is helpful.

When I said everything is as it should be,I meant that temperatures are at 75f at one end and between 85 and 90 where the under carpet heater is.The humidity stays between 32 and 35 I Have a 6 inch by 3 inch wide bamboo willed with moss.I add drops of water in the moss for humidity control. .I also have a thermostat to control the pad heat at 90f.There is a dish of superworms, one with water and one with calcium. I have done a lot of research and these settings seem close to what is required.

Your temperatures and humidity seem fine. It's not unusual for a new leopard gecko not to eat while he settles in (even if he ate the first day). It's also not unusual for leopard geckos to sometimes not eat for awhile, especially in the winter. I have a male leopard gecko that frequently doesn't eat at all between Jan. and March. He's eating this year but other years he loses 20 grams or so in the winter (starting at over 85 grams)and then gains it all back in the warmer time of the year. I have also found that some leopard geckos change their minds about what they want to eat. I would recommend you keep offering, consider offering some other feeders to see what he'll do and try not to worry.
