I think organic feeders are a great idea, but wouldn't CO2 be a more humane way to kill them? Putting them in the fridge sounds pretty awful...

i never said that i started doing this yet. the sites not even 'live' i just have it up for thoughts.

And no, i dont offer rats over 3 weeks of age at this point anyway. and I dont think i'll offer adults frozen. Prob. live and pick up only. and mice are not mentioned.

I'm looking into gassing them... i'm actually talking to a few bigger suppliers about their methods.
and for what its worth- you know those mice that come from ***** in the bags? i'm pretty sure they are just thrown in the bags and frozen...or at least thats how it used to be.

more humane than 'thumping' or just flat out freezing.

and just so you know the fridge method just puts them to sleep... from the same gas as actually gassing them- i don't know how easy it will be to get the gas for 'personal' use. I'm not licensed as anything that would require that ...

im still looking into it. sorry if my previous reply was short... its early and i havent had my coffee.

Fridge/freezing does NOT just put a mouse or rat to sleep.......you ever fallen asleep outside from the cold?....its INCREDIBLY painful to freeze to death! and incredibly inhumane. Ever had frostbite?... "Thumping" is more humane...if you know how to do it right. I would not call sticking them in a tiny container in the fridge to suffocate slowly much more humane...

It is not that difficult to get CO2....they sell it at liquor stores for kegerators...they also sell it for paintball use...or you can get dry ice and use it.....you can even mix baking soda and vinegar to produce it, but that wouldn't work well for a large number of animals.

co2 is very easy to get! Its also very cheap and humane! With gas all you need is a container with a lid and an input valve to put the co2 in with.
