Would you breed this gecko

I have a question for all you breeders on here.

This is just a question for now since this little one hatched out on Sunday:

Would you add this little one to your breeding collection? This is one I hatched out here. First time breeding, a surprise find in my genetics, proved poss het bell mom, and discovered het bell normal Dad. Mom passed away due to egg-binding. So far, only defect I have noticed is a small "nick" on left bottom eyelid. Feet are normal - just from pic can't see all the toes (I have checked twice to be sure since I missed her eyelid issue twice!) Unsure if genetic or incubation issue

Clutchmate has a couple issues: and will not be bred:

I have 3 more eggs set - do I wait to decide after I see if the other 3 hatch and have any problems?

Eyelid notches are usually not anything genetic, and if the gecko has outstanding genetics, I wouldn't hesitate to breed it.

As far as the other defects, I feel that eyelid deformitites and underdevelped limbs are not genetic either, but whether to breed them or not is strictly a personal choice.

I can't tell for sure if the second one pictured is blind or not. Nemo seems to not react the same to the presence of a human hand as the bell does, so I'm thinking that the eyelid deformity is impairing sight in some way with her.

Can the gecko with the eyelid deformity 'blink'... or close the eyelids completely?

The one with the notch can blink fine ... I've not been able to tell with Nemo if the blinking is intact or disabled. I think she can blink, but it's partially disabled. She'll probably need ointment or saline drops every so often to keep it lubricated.

I'll be keeping them, unless I can find Nemo a nice special needs home.

If I have any leos for sale, i'll post them on www.ravenhawkendeavors.com - there's a page names RHE Geckos. Right now, I don't have any available.

Good luck! We have a male with a small notch in each eyelid, hone of his babies have ever had any eyelid issues. I think they are more common towards the end of the season when females that have not been eating well get depleted of nutrients. Calcium deficiencies can also be a factor in egg binding so maybe the mom wasn't eating enough of her supplements.

Mom had a calcium bowl available but she may not have eaten as much as she should have.

But I am going to see if my former employer might order me some liquid calicum to have on hand to give an extra boost to my patty girl when I start breeding her later in the season.
