I'll be honest.... I've yet to read any books that have as much info or fascinating discussions as these forums do.... or all the tiny little details and personal preferences, and people you can ask "will this work? is this ok? can I do this? should I do this or this?" because a lot of that info just hasn't made it to print yet ;)

And I would be totally deprived of all the awesome photos to look at each day. Which helped me learn my morphs, btw.

well I ordered mine from a breeder over the internet ... ;)
If it still counts I have to say that I got the most extensive care sheet I have ever seen from this breeder and so far it addressed all the issues I faced. for everything else not in there they suggested to visit or call a vet.
So I still voted 'yes'

Yes. I had been keeping geckos and various other species before this forum and before that didn't use the internet much for reptile care.

Seems books on reptile care have gone by the wayside. at least from what I have seen with the various questions asked repeatedly on many common things a care book would answer if one where to open it.

I had my first leo pre-internet and she lived to be ~10. I don't know what she died from, but it likely isn't something that the internet could have fixed- more a vet that would actually see her (there were none!) assuming it was fixable at all, of course. I guess you could argue that I might have been able to find a vet on the internet? I don't know. Not many exotics practitioners that long ago, and no Yellow Book online would help if they weren't there.

The internet definitely would have (and has) cut down on my labor time, as I used to soak and peel stuck toe shed off all the time prior to learning about the humid hide system.

Books need to make a comeback... any nut can write on the net :main_laugh::main_rolleyes:

I voted "no" because I wouldn't have been successful at incubating and hatching the eggs. As for keeping the adults alive, that wouldn't have been too much of an issue.

Geckos Ahhhhhh Yes

Giving good care requires observation
and common sense.
The internet can be very helpful but
not totally necessary.
Take care. Hj[/QUOTE]

I honestly don't think so. When I got my first leo I didn't know much about leopard geckos and read all those little books/pamphlets I bought at the pet store but many seemed outdated and not very specific so I pretty much bounced around with trial and error. Sadly my gecko didn't live long just 5-6years and I still feel as if I did something wrong because I only started getting on this forum about the time she died. After that I carried around a lot of guilt because I didn't come here earlier. Now with the help of this forum I've grown as a reptile keeper am more knowledge and more confident that I have all of these people to bounce ideas around and not having to use my leo as a science experiment.
