When Kristi came over yesterday, we were downstairs looking at some of my leos on the rack. I went to check on Ursula and found this in her cage:
At first I thought, "That is the grossest looking poo I've EVER seen!"
But I knew it wasn't a poo.
And I KNEW her cage was just cleaned out two days before, and I haven't fed super worms for a while.
I was grossed out, but I couldn't figure out what it was. I didn't have my tweezers on me to poke it, so I grabbed a twisty tie we had on a shelf.
It was hard, not soft like a poop.
So, I snapped a shot. I showed my husband the picture, and he immediately said, "That's a roach egg sac. I had to feed her an adult female the other day, and I bet as soon as she ate it, it popped that out."
EW.
Apparently, all of our nymphs have grown into adults faster than we can feed them as sub-adults.
We have more breeders than feeders right now, or we have tiny nymphs.
We're missing that sub-adult stage.
SO...he fed adults the other night.
That is a dubia roach egg sac.
ALL THOSE WASTED NYMPHS.
I had nightmares about this picture last night.
