I am switching all my leos to a rack system this winter. I will be putting audults in 16qt sterlites, and hatchlings in 6qt sterlites. I am wondering what you use in your tubs for hhiding, feeding, and watering. I have some tuperware containers for humid hides, and I plan to order some petri dishes for bowls, but I dont know what to do for the remaining hides. I was thinking PVC pipe halves? Pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I don't have any pictures yet of my rack, as it is in the construction mode as well, however I wanted to ask if you've actually picked up the Sterilite tubs? If I remember correctly, they had dips along the edges and bottom of the tubs, making cleaning a much longer chore than with some other tubs, as you really had to make sure to get into the corners. I think Rubbermaid was the same way. I am getting my tubs from www.thecontainerstore.com . They are the shoe box tubs that have completely flat bottoms, no indents or raises areas.

As far as your setup in the tubs goes, I think that would be just fine! As long as the PVC isn't too big for them. I used old wax worms tubs I cut a hole in, and turned upside down for their dry hides. For water dishes for the babies, I'm using Gatorade caps (I'm a Gatorade fiend) because they are shallow and wide enough. As far as food dishes, I found some ceramic ones at a local chain that are $2.99...they work pretty good, but nothing really seems to keep in determined Superworms!

Thanks, I looked into those boxes, but shipping is outrageouse! I'm trying to decide what I will use for a substrate (not sand obveously), and that should help nothing get stuck in there.

I think the IRIS tubs are superior to the Sterlite or Rubbermaids. You can pick them up at any Container Store to save shipping, and they have cases of 20 tubs at discount prices.

Thanks

I will have to look next time I go to the store. I use paper towel right now, but I am thinking drawer liner or something... I have heard of it being used before, this would eliminate the lip all around the container, beacuse I would bring it up a little bit on the side. I have a feeling I will end up using plain old paer towels again...

I use the Ziploc storage containers for most of my humid hides and the Exoterra caves (small for babies and juvies and med for large adults) and Exoterra small water dishes (the one water dish I have found that no one can tip over or redecorate with ;)). Paper towels as substrate. It's so darn easy and sanitary, you can't go wrong! :)
