This has completely made my day!!! Our Line Bred Snow and Mack Snow breeding pair actually produced a Super Snow this year from her very last clutch this season!!! We were told that this pair only produces Super Snows 6 percent of the time, so we really weren't expecting it to happen (but it is 1/10, so the percentage is pretty much right on).. I can't belive it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On top of that, this pair was our ONLY chance to produce our own SS this season!! I will post pics as soon as I get back home (I have to wait a whole week before seeing him/her!)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't calm myself down!!

Thanks so much Nicholas, we really didn't think it would happen this year. I will definitely be posting pics ASAP (but I won't be returning home until the 27th of this month). I can post pics of the parents, though :)

this is mommy, Nefertari (Line Bred Snow), thanks to Larry from Sunshine State Exotics :)

No, she is just a Line Bred Snow. We originally purchased her because we wanted the whitest Snows possible, and we didn't realize that a LBS couldn't produce 25% SS with a Mack Snow. We honestly thought that all Snows were the same genetically, so we didn't give second thought to putting the pair together. We then came to find that many people had never heard of a SS being produced from this pariring, and weren't even sure if it was possible. However, Albey had done this pairing long before us, and we learned that his results were 6 percent for SS. So with that in mind, we had hopes for producing one, but didn't think we would this year. I still can't believe it!!

Not auguring, but that is crazy as ^(&) to me. How does a gecko caring the mack snow gene, to a gecko that isn’t caring it, produce a SS, a homozygous Mack Snow, when only one of the parents carries the gene in the heterozygous state. Shouldn’t you just get 50% Mack, and 50% Normal? Again, not saying you are wrong, and I can’t wait to see that hatchling, but how in the world can that happen. It makes absolutely no sense to me. Are they in fact carrying something of the same gene? Is mack snow not a simple co-dom?

Nicholas, if you really want to get into the semantics, try asking someone who has done this also and has more experience - Albey. This baby has proven that there's something about the Snow gene going on here that we do not fully understand.. I am not saying that I understand it myself, all I know is that it happened! But this will help us all to better understand what's going on with Snows for sure :)

Also, there are many different snows - TUG Snow, Gem Snow, to name a few, and they all can produce Supers when bred with a Mack Snow as well. It's just that the Mack Snow is the only Snow that can create Supers when bred back to itself (Mack Snow X Mack Snow).

Thank you very much Kristi, HJ, and Debbie :D

Kristi, thanks for the positive wishes :)

HJ, we only caught 4 fish in the two days we went, but I did catch 3 of them myself, so that was fun :) Two were Trout, and one was a Kokanee (apparently I was spelling it wrong before) :2thumbsup:

I hope you all are enjoying the summer as well!

Okay, well apparently I was wrong about how many eggs we've had from this pair. We've actually only had 4 clutches (I keep thinking 10 eggs for some reason, but it's only 8 total this season). She was a first-year breeder and every clutch laid was fertile (thanks again to Larry of Sunshine State Exotics who provided us with this AMAZING female!!) So here's our count:

3 Pastels (Osiris carries the Pastel gene) - (one didn't make it, that was the deformed one that some of you may have read about)
4 Snows
1 Super Snow

So from the Mack Snow X Line Bred Snow breeding thus far (and 8 eggs isn't enough to really make a good judgment on statistics), but that's:
37.5% Pastels
50% Snows
12.5% Super Snow

I think she is done laying for the season, though. Oh, and I forgot to mention, but the fourth Snow just hatched today, it is the SS' clutchmate
